Tebow Superbowl Ad...Maybe

OK, being a social conservative I get a lot of stuff that I don't particularly agree with or think is important from various conservative organizations. However, this I got today and hope CBS goes through with the commercial:


"Dear _______

Our good friends at Focus on the Family have purchased time during this year's Super Bowl broadcast to air a compelling pro-life ad featuring Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and the decision his mother made 23 years ago to give birth to her unborn son when doctors were urging her to abort him.

CBS has come under withering fire from the left for its decision to air this ad. Joy Behar of "The View" even said abortion would have been an appropriate choice since there was no way for Tim's mom to know that he wouldn't grow up to be a "rapist pedophile."

The hypocrisy here is thick. Abortion proponents claim to be all about choice, but they are outraged over an ad that features a woman exercising her right to choose life for her baby son."

I don't know the story behind "23 years ago" but find this interesting and hope to see the add during the Superbowl...at least the part of it that I get to watch.

I think CBS should be brave and air the ad.
 
I understand the issue of when watching a sporting event, especially the Super Bowl, of not wanting to be hit with any type of political message.

Obviously I haven't seen the ad... but from what I have read about this, the ad talks about the CHOICE she made to keep her kid. If that is what it is indeed about, then the far left lunatics are going to look rather stupid for opposing it. If on the other hand the ad pounds the theme of 'abortion is murder' etc... then I can see the lefts point that it isn't the same standards being applied given that CBS refused to air a left leaning ad a few years ago (again, according to what I read)

Well it's nice that Tebow has the courage of his convictions but this is a bad business decision on his part. An athletes career is short and endorsment oppurtunities don't come around everyday and now he's limited his oppurtunities as he will be seen as politically devisive. Not smart Tim.

As Michael Jordan said "Republicans buy sneakers too."

That's why I can't stand Bob Costas from NBC. That short little motor mouth is always bringing politics into sports and I hate it. Sports are supposed to unite communities, not divide them.

Yes he wouldn't be the first Jesus freak athlete. But it limits you with regular people.

Dude, like 80% or more of our country is religious. If thanking god in an interview offended Americans almost no athlete would have any endorsements.

I am interested in seeing this commercial. What I read made it sounds like mom could have died if she didn't abort him but kept him and now they have this great family. Whatever. As long as it doesn't say being pro-choice is wrong it's probably not that offensive. Hell Tebow is getting a lot of hype for this which will do more for him as far as being known by people outside of the sports world. From a business perspective I think its genius.
 
Tebow is a Jesus freak and would turn off lots of people.
I could care less if it airs, I take a shit while he's pretending on tv.
