Texas knew for years power grid was at risk but did little about it. Unbelievable.

Once again, Texans are suffering because of a failure of disaster planning and investment to prepare for the worst.

First, it was the pandemic. Texas’ public health infrastructure has been shown for a year to be lacking, at both local and state levels. Leaders tried to craft a plan in 2015 to prepare for the inevitable, but it was stopped over political issues.

This time, it’s an unprecedented — but, importantly, not unpredictable — stretch of cold weather and storms blanketing the entire state. Public and private sector leaders may try to say there’s no way they could have been prepared for this. That’s a line of bull that no Texan should accept.

Texas is an energy giant. This shouldn’t happen here. We have a large and diverse energy supply. The culprit here is a clear failure of preparation, period.

It's all about the special interests and government corruption. They have convinced the dupes that Americans should have very low expectations for life quality and to just forget what good government and governance looks like. It is becoming very toxic here.

So where is the help? What is taking the Biden administration so long? Anyone can talk and declare shit. Where is the action? Why are Americans dying in a disaster from the lack of action of the Biden Administration? I bet they will count them as covid deaths though.

Yes Poopeye, you are in dire need of help for you mental illness.

Texas decided to use windmills that were not protected from ice and cold weather. Sweden doe not have to do that. The problem was caused by Texas energy rules, not faulty wind energy.

No. Once again you just talk out your ass about things you know nothing about. That MUST be a requirement to be a democrat. You all do it.

Speaking of which, what is Biden doing for those Texans right now?

FEMA, and the military has been working hard to get supplies to Texas. But, there is no way for Biden to replace the decrepit power infrastructure in Texas in less than a couple of years. This is especially true with a governor who is lying through his teeth about what the problem is.

I call bullshit. Like you always do.

Was not maintaining the grid just a trumpanzee ploy to sell generators?
The intelligence level of that scheme sounds just about right.

Nope this is just Republican leadership

They refuse to spend on what solves problems

No money is the Republican plan

Let infrastructure crumble

They have been doing that for decades

Oh and BTY

Energy use is being charged at mountainous fees during this mess

Huge price gouging is going on in Texas

a lot like nyc and la hey you raciest bastard

Even without Biden, the government would be trying to help Texas. People try to do good jobs. Biden is an honest, good person, who is trying his best to lead these people trying to do good jobs. He is far from perfect, but he is trying to do his best.

If you want to be cynical about it, then if Democrats improve Texas, they will reap the political rewards from that. Better yet, the toes they will have to step on to improve Texas, the big corporations trying to suck as much money as possible out of the people of Texas, are all strong Republicans. Democrats do not have to lose any support, and could gain a lot.

Texas is among the most outdated, but rest of the power grid is also basically early 1900's technology. Sure the computers would amaze an electrical engineer from 1920, but what the computers showed would be very understandable to him.

We have a smart grid when it comes to communication, we need the same when it comes to power.

For all that blather Biden is not doing shit. Still.

Mind boggling the right wants to blame wind power. Since when is that reliable? If turbines had not frozen over, they could have simply failed to turn because of a calm windless day. Nobody relies on wind for constant power.

LOL, lots of hot air about "kancer causing" windmills, & nothing about defending what texas did, or rather did not do....

I hear many of "the victims" are now suing...
