Thank God Biden got us out of Afghanistan.

The stipulation for supporting the idea of leaving American soldiers in a country indefinitely should be, "would you travel there?"
One gross miscalculation by Obama was the theory of 'Arab Spring'.

Some places simply cannot support democracy. With so many tribes in a nation, it's impossible to get a representative govt. that can get along.

It completely disgusts me that anyone could talk so casually about leaving troops there indefinitely - as though it's the same as our presence in Germany or Japan.

LOL

Quick - how are those countries different from Afghanistan?

Well, which racist, elitist measure do you suggest I use? After all, that's where you've gone with that...

And I take it you want us to be the world's policeman. You don't classify yourself as conservative w/ that POV, do you?

Might as well be given what a shitty job other countries have done of it and how many countries can't figure out how not to be fucked up on their own. Hershey bars and dollar bills have a magic all their own on societies...

LOL @ the bolded.

Are you sure you're not a liberal?

As usual, fuck off. Not interested in your inane ego battles.
LOL.

Another meltdown in your own thread.

Just a suggestion:

Don't discuss things that you don't know anything about if you don't want to get corrected.

You honestly don't remember that trump invited the Taliban to Camp David?

He had to cancel that party, but he negotiated a surrender with the Taliban in '20

The historic deal was always high-wire diplomacy, requiring a degree of trust in the Taliban as a potential peace partner and inked despite skepticism from war-weary Afghans who feared losing authority in any power-sharing agreement.
“The Doha agreement was a very weak agreement, and the U.S. should have gained more concessions from the Taliban,” said Lisa Curtis, an Afghanistan expert who served during the Trump administration as the National Security Council’s senior director for South and Central Asia.
She called it “wishful thinking” to believe that the Taliban might be interested in lasting peace. The resulting agreement, she said, was heavily weighted toward the Taliban, contributed to undermining Afghan President Ashraf Ghani — he fled the country Sunday and is now in the United Arab Emirates — and facilitated the release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners without a commensurate concession from the Taliban.
“They wanted U.S. forces out, and they wanted to take over the country militarily, and they believed that they could do that,” Curtis said of the Taliban. “That was just crystal clear.”
The agreement called for the U.S. to bring down its forces to 8,600 from 13,000 over the following three to four months, with the remaining U.S. forces withdrawing in 14 months, or by May 1.

LOL @ the bolded.

Are you sure you're not a liberal?

No, I'm a realist. If you are differentiating between the US occupying Germany, Japan, Korea, Italy, among other places for decades--nearly a century now--and Afghanistan, the only reasonable explanation is you're a racist or an elitist.

Oh, really? That's the "only reasonable explanation?"

That's absurd. Afghanistan is NOTHING like those other countries. Even when we were there, the government and situation was FAR from stable.

Would you have traveled there, and spent a few weeks on a vacation? Yes or no to that. No spin.

In fact, Biden left on exactly the date that Trump negotiated. Blame Trump if the date bothers you. The Taliban was everywhere. Who knows how bad it would have gotten?
Maybe but Biden did not leave on the terms Trump negotiated he just tucked tail and ran.
