Fascism is on the road to communism. Competing dictators were always against their competition. Hitler, for example, rejected Stalinist communist because they competed against his brand of socialism.
Both fascism and communism are forms of socialism.
Neither fascism nor communism are forms of government. Since socialism is theft of wealth, it can only be implemented by force, i.e. oligarchies and dictatorships.
Capitalism, on the other hand, is simply everyday people producing products or services voluntarily, for a price people are willing to pay voluntarily. It requires no government. It requires only initiative and innovation to be successful in it. It is the only economic system that can create wealth.
Socialism cannot exist without wealth to steal from. Socialism cannot exist without capitalism to steal from.
Then socialism runs out of victims, it collapses.
Capitalism, fascism, and communism exist in most nations, including what's left of the U.S.
A republic is government by constitution. Constitutions are usually designed to protect and enhance free market activity, and capitalism. A constitution's purpose is to define and declare a government and to give it certain specified powers and authority. It has NO powers or authority outside of that given by that constitution. A government that ignores it's own constitution is no longer a republic.

Thank you. While you describe that fascism comes after communism, it is actually the reverse. The problem is simply confusing which of the two are in play. All three major economic systems, capitalism, fascism, and communism, exist side by side in most nations. It's pretty damn rare when one is missing. The reason is that fascism and communism are both forms of socialism, which is theft of wealth. They both require capitalism and the wealth it creates to steal from.
Germany, before WW2 and WW1, was an oligarchy much of its time. This is true of Italy as well. There were times in the past of both nations, of course, where they were outright dictatorships.
WW1 pitted Germany and her allies, including Italy, on one side, and the other nations against them, not always allied. No national borders moved at all in WW1. There were no winners or losers. It ended in an armistice. They simply gave up and went home.
In the disaster known as the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was blamed for the cost of the war. So was Italy, but not as much. All the other nations demanded that Germany pay for these costs. This put Germany and Italy on the road to WW2. In essence, WW1 caused WW2. The dire economic straits in Germany and Italy brought Mussolini and Hitler to power. People were desperate.
Hitler in particular had what looked like the answer to Germany's economy. Fascism. One of his first successes was to get Porsche to design and build a very cheap car (even using spare parts lying around at the time as needed). The idea was to build a car for the People (here you can see Hitler's end goal of communism), that the People could afford. The result was the People's Car. In German, Volkswagen. Unfortunately, Hitler was able to talk many people into expansionism, and talking about making Germany great again. She already had an unstoppable chemical industry, and her metalworking industries are legendary even to this day. This expansionism was coupled with racism and bigotry, resulting in genocide for anyone not 'pure Aryan'. Because of the brutal nature of the dictatorship of Hitler, this came at a terrible cost.
You can see it in the media of the time, including Wagner's Ring Cycle opera. You know, the one that ain't over until the fat lady sings (Brunhilde, who is the heroine of the entire opera, even putting the Gods in their place (spoiler alert)).
Now turn to the United States under Trump.
Trump was not counseling fascism. He wasn't trying to control any market. He was trying to wrest government away from controlling markets. He was trying to get the government to follow it's own constitution again. He was moving it in the right direction, and many people saw it, but he was not successful. Democrats hate his guts because Trump fought against both communism and fascism and he continues to be a threat. Democrats WANT fascism and communism. They caused the fall of the federal government to convert it into an oligarchy, to implement fascism and communism.
The people have heard and seen Trumps attempt. They also want a return to a republic as a form of government. They want capitalism. They want to freely conduct their business. The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker...all capitalism. It is truly what makes America great. It is Everyman. Trump recognized this. Democrats do not. Capitalism is under attack like never before from the Democrats, and Everyman with it. Democrats cannot tell the truth of their goal. Everyman would reject it. Their goal (and their length of their methods to achieve it) are becoming more obvious over time. Trump managed to show to a lot of people just exactly what the Democrats are and what their goals are. I don't think even Trump knew how far the Democrats would go to achieve their goals.
The States of America are now each deciding whether to remain independent, join the Oligarchy, or to try to reform a republic under a constitution of some kind, probably using the Constitution of the United States as a model.
Unfortunately, most people do not yet realize the federal government has fallen. We are seeing a defining moment of history in the making.

This is quite right. Under fascism, you still keep your property. You still keep your business. Despite all the risks you took to get your business successful, however, government comes to tell you how to run it. They begin dictating who you can sell to, how much you can charge, who you must buy from, how much you have to pay for it, what product you must produce, your hours of operation, who you must hire, who you must fire, where you can conduct your business, what you can import, what you can export, etc.
Fascism is government control of markets. An example today is government's attempt to control the energy markets. Their justification is 'environmental sustainability', 'prevention of climate change or global warming', 'green energy', and such religious buzzwords like this. NONE of them have any meaning outside their use as buzzwords.
The Church of Green, the Church of Global Warming, the Church of Covid; all stem from the Church of Karl Marx, which is also the Church of Plato, which is also the counsel of the character of Satan in the bible: compulsion. In all three cases, this compulsion is justified as 'caring for the people' so victimized. It was exactly the same argument slave owners used to justify slavery...another form of socialism. The only difference here is that the slave owner is the 'government'.
Under communism, government OWNS the markets, and the property with it. They don't abolish property, but they abolish private ownership of it.
Fascism is a stepping stone to communism. First government controls the markets, then they use their own incompetence to justify taking the markets by force and owning them. Private property ownership goes with it.
Mussolini may have coined the word 'fascism', but the practice has existed long before Mussolini. It is as old as civilization on the Earth itself.

The indictment alleges that some donors contacted Kolfage and said that, although they did not have a lot of money, “they were giving what they could because they trusted” the group to use it on a border wall. Instead, Bannon and his co-conspirators used the money to subsidize a lavish lifestyle of speedboats, cars, cosmetic surgery and travel, according to federal prosecutors. HuffPost interviewed some of the donors on Thursday who now feel “taken.”

Of all the changes the widely criticized Senate Bill 202 made to Georgia’s election law, the State Elections Board’s new power to replace a duly elected county elections board with a single person is perhaps the most drastic.
A provision nestled within the law allows the board to intervene with "underperforming" county election boards and replace them.
The bill allows state legislative representatives, county commissioners or the State Elections Board itself to request an investigation of the county’s election’s superintendent. For some counties, that means replacing the probate judge, but in others, it means replacing an entire election board with a single individual.
