So how are they not criminals? But not all illegals are criminals....they are just guilty of entering the country illegally and working under the radar and/or with false credentials.

A criminal is someone who committed a crime.
You may not like it, WM, but if someone commits a crime they are (by definition) a criminal.
Perhaps you would prefer to be able to pick and choose which laws you can break and not be a criminal. But the statement that illegal aliens are not criminals is ridiculous.
So how are they not criminals?
"Criminal" is usually only applied to someone who has committed a serious crime. Misdemeanors like immigrating without papers or getting a traffic ticket do not count.
I'm pretty sure (but admittedly not certain) that immigrating without papers and falsifying your self as a citizen are felonies. I know that falsely filing a job app is."Criminal" is usually only applied to someone who has committed a serious crime. Misdemeanors like immigrating without papers or getting a traffic ticket do not count.

I thought that was me.
actually, I apply it to just about every group, but hey.

Not according to Prophet, seeing as how he adheres to the "one bad apple spoinls the entire barrel" theory.
Bravo's subject title reflects the PMP attitude....
I forgot I can't speak in general terms around you, as you get easily confused and take everything literally.
Let me dumb it down for you: not all illegal aliens from Mexico cross the border to start/continue a life of crime.....the majority illegally enter the country to take good jobs to build a better life for themselves and/or send money home to relatives. Mind you, THEY ARE ILLEGAL AND THEREFORE ARE GUILTY OF THAT CRIME ALONE. But they are not dope dealers or B & E artists, etc.
Hope this clears things up for you.
A large number of the illegal immigrants in this country did not enter illegally but overstayed. The latter is not a crime. And it makes the illegal immigrant no more a criminal than a parking violation would.

Just think how stupid a person has to be to write this
"But not all illegals are criminals"
How can you take a person with this mindset seriously?
Go read a dictionary, Taichi

It's a civil infraction. H.R. 4437 would have made it equal to illegal entry if they stayed 1 year and 1 day past the expired visa they used to enter our country. The estimate of persons who are here illegally due to expired visas is approximately 1/4 to 1/2 of all illegals. The fact of the matter is once they overstay, their staus is "illegal" and they can be deported if caught; though they currently can't be criminally prosecuted. H.R. 4437 would have changed that and made for a more streamlined legal proccess. The one year and one day clause would have allowed for any oversight to be corrected by the person.
The bill passed the House in 16 days back in 2006, but was opposed by senate democrats.
