The "good guys" did the same with Hitler. Different set of "good guys" but they were certain their hats were the right color.
Back to the best one... he persecuted the early Christians viciously but could not stop them. Then he "converted" and lead them to... Reminds me of Glenn Beck's and Rush Limbaugh's 2008 take on Paul and the rising resentment against the establishment GOP. It's an old trick and was best displayed in Animal House.
