The Black National Anthem

I like the idea of it just because it bothers the right.

Well, that makes you part of the problem lol.

This country is being played. At what point do you say ‘well, I like it that this pisses the right off, but ya know, maybe having a *segregationist* and separate national anthem for black people is a bridge too far’.

Is there any point, where such thoughts would creep into your mind?

I would have agreed w/ the premise a few years back.

But the black community kept raising the red flags - and establishment America kept changing the topic.

Look at it this way: that community spent a few centuries on the other side of all of this - and dealing w/ MUCH more than having to listen to an anthem. They dealt w/ real discrimination, inequality and wrongful persecution, every day. Still do.

So, a few cosmetic kinds of things that tip the scales in the other direction? Okay by me. Look at how much you've complained in just a few weeks. Imagine having your whole life w/ the scales tipped against you.

I’ve always wondered why it was necessary to play the anthem before any events, except maybe political events.

Just come out and say you don’t like it lol?

The intent is [its sad that this needs explaining] to give individuals a chance to demonstrate national unity and show they are all members of one community and *one* nation. See, this all started when ‘under God’ became objectionable to a vocal minority. I know it’s not in The Anthem but it’s the same sort of thing.

We gave an inch and they’re getting ready to take the mile.

The bolded really says a whole lot.

Does pulling down monuments of old *non-confederate* white guys part of this ‘cosmetic change’?

Seriously, at what point are things going to become ‘not ok’ with you?

More whining from maybe the biggest crybaby on the boards. All this means to me as that I have to sit or stand through two god awful songs instead of one. Just like when my Wild play a Canadian based team (although their anthem is way better than ours). Why the fuck do you care if they do this. Let African Americans have this moment, they've earned it. God you people are such babies.

There are no longer any slaves or slave owners in America.

The field is level and in some cases tilted toward minorities.

When may we expect minorities to stop calling for special programs for themselves?

There is racism and always will but it is against Federal Law to discriminate by race.

There are Civil Rights Laws that protect minorities. When you hear race merchants like Al Sharpton et al screaming about racism, consider what his motivation is.

Stop allowing the Democrats to continue telling minorities that they are not good enough, not bright enough, to compete in America.

Ask the Black who started BET and is now a billionaire if success is unattainable for minorities.

What in the hell do you have to lose?

Well, it ain't when they take down statues of non-American traitors - that's for sure.

It probably becomes not okay w/ me when anyone in any community is treated w/ the kind of inequality the black community has had to deal w/ for generations. I know you don't think that exists - but it does.

ROTFLMFAO!!!! The irony of this post is absolutely delicious. It's the main reason that the cult likes Trump. For God sakes, Don Junior wrote a book called 'triggered'. I'd say that applies to you right now. You love the President, not for his policies, or his leadership, but because he's a troll.

It’s not the moment, I’m fine with giving black folks all the moments they want and they deserve it.

It’s the National before anthem. Mine line gets drawn at dividing the nation. Where’s yours or do you even have one?

Congratulations! Yay us!

We made it to page three before some goof ball dragged Trump into it!

You must have been drawing the line your whole life then.

Conservatives always seem to care much more about symbolic things - anthems, statues - than in actual reality and what makes a difference in people's lives. It's like they'd prefer to enjoy the illusion of unity, instead of seeing it actually happen.
