The Christ Haters Are At It Again Folks.

I have to laugh when an atheist tries to complain that lighting a Christmas tree is an establishment of the Christian religion.......

Just wait until Trump appoints not only the next SC Justice; but maybe 2 or 3. :D
You really need to do some reading about the constitution.

The Bill of Rights absolutely applies to the states - there is no question about that.

And, there have been numerous rulings on 1st amendment issues, establishing a body of jurisprudence that no qualified justice would disregard.

Remember that issues surrounding of rights of speech and freedom are not of interest to one party only.

And, remember that we've had a long time now with a court that is predominately Catholic and has almost never (if ever) included an atheist.

But now Trump will appoint at least one, if not more, to the SC and such rulings can be looked at again. :D

The constitution forms a framework concerning what is legal for government to attempt to do.

When you ask government to do stuff that is unconstitutional, you will find me and many others opposed to that direction.

Also, I know your belief. The Bible lays it out. I've read the Bible and studied Christianity well enough that you haven't been able to find issues with what I've said regarding Christianity and the Bible.

AND, I'm not opposed to you holding your belief. You won't find me arguing about the existence of heaven, etc. Well, there are some religious points I find interesting to discuss, but that has nothing to do with our government. We have no way to resolve this issue of whether there is a god of any particular type, and that realm must be left to individuals.

But, as per this thread, I DO oppose the use of your belief as a justification for law that applies to people in America ("people" being more broad than "citizens"). Our law is NOT based on the Bible, and it is counter to our constitution to start accepting the Bible, the Qur'an, or other religious works as the basis for law.

And, YOUR justifications for newly created "laws" over the past 30 years or so are based on nothing......but maybe selfish base human wants of a tiny minority who want to see civilization destroyed in order to accommodate their particular cravings. Since laws against murder, rape, theft, incest, beastiality, lying are Bible-based, you better get rid of those.

If the libs can get whatever they want done for them based on nothing in the Constitution, then conservatives can play that game, too. We should just pitch fits, whine and cry and demand what we want as well, based on nothing in the Constitution...we don't have to even say it's because of our Christian beliefs. We'd get more things done if we simply said, "We want this and we want it now" without giving any reason at all.

Leave it be. Take your unending strife and arguments up with God and with letters, protests and whatever to state and federal elected officials. If our government continues to update our social policies with atheistic values (and make no mistake, Atheism is a Religion, they even have "churches" around the world) then it's fair to update our social policies with Biblical ones as well.

That IS an establishment of Christianity as being the religion of the government.

One catch here is that there is a constant onslaught of these cases. Sames sex marriage, choice, teachers teaching religion, the assault on science/logic, etc.

So, don't feel like the issue is that cross. That cross is just part of a whole constellation of government actions Christians want to see, but that must be opposed as per our constitution.

How could it be if the people put it up there? The community wants to put Christ back in CHRISTMAS .. the holiday Christmas. According to you, every Christmas day, the religion of Christianity becomes the official religion of the government if Christ is not omitted from the celebration. This is nothing but PC lunacy.

Christmas is already a federal holiday in the first place as is, as celebrated as such in recognition of the birth of Jesus Christ regardless of how it is celebrated.

To date, no one is preventing you from attending the church of your choice or worshiping how you deem fit. No one is preventing you from personally saying MERRY CHRISTMAS to anyone. And last time I checked, the midnight mass is still broadcasted on MSM affiliates throughout the country, various department and food store chains still blare the usual Christmas theme music with the word "christmas" in it. this will go on until December 26th.

Get a grip.

Your ally read me wants the government to remove a cross on a community tree put there by community citizens who want to put Christ back into Christmas. You're doing what all you Christ hating secularists do when you're exposed, you poo poo it then act innocent.

First, learn how to string together a coherent sentence.

Secondly, these local debates that get national attention primarily are about majority vs. minority usage of community property. These debates are usually couched in local ordinances and/or state/federal law. The final outcome depends upon if particular religious displays violate those laws.

Nothing in your rant changes or disproves one iota of what I previously stated.

So Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays, etc., etc.

So a serial cheater and documented misogynist that's 3 times married is going to champion the religious right wing nut's paranoid quest to have national symbolist dominance every December? Classic!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" on my local commercial television station. ;)

I'm sure as an avowed atheist you would never have a Christmas tree or an Elf on a Shelf or any other symbol of the Christian religion in your house......

Well, as usual, you are wrong. How can someone be as chronically wrong as you are? Even random chance gives you a better track record.
