The cost of healthcare.....

NOVA

U. S. NAVY Veteran
simple but informative lesson .......dumbed down especially for Rana and Onceler

Way back in the "old" days......a doctors visit costs $2, $5, $10 etc......why ?

Its was because that is what the people had a chance of actually paying at the time......

If the doctors demanded more, say, $50 a visit....their office would be empty......their income for the day would be ZERO....NADA....ZILCH......
At $5 a visit they might actually get 10 patients......and make $50.......

Then , along came 'insurance' to pay the bills.....the big, deep pockets of a corporation........

Now the cost of an office visit didn't depend on what the consumer could afford.
Now the cost of an office visit depended on what the big corporation would reasonably pay......
So the consumer paid $50 a year for coverage and at 100000 customers, the income was $ 5,000,000
and the stats said that maybe only 75,000 people would use the service.....at a cost of $3,750,000
So a cool 1 and 1/4 million profit for nothing....everybody is happy.....

Then the government got into the action......deeper pockets, unlimited money to spend......and the cost of medical care explodes......how could it not.....

And that is why the government should not be in the business of business......EVER.

Now why does a pair of glasses, with $3.oo being the cost of the plastic material they are made of.....cost $500.00 ?

Health care was cheap back in the day because it sucked.

Health care was cheap back in the day because it sucked.

really? that is all you have?

the same thing happened with college costs. allow virtually unlimited loans and the uni's will simply keep raising fees. h/c does not need to cost as much as it does today. go talk to anyone in the h/c industry that deals with finances.
