The CPI Inflation Rate A Sizzling 9.1% In June; Dow Jones Tumbles

I'm fascinated by this argument that educated people know the President has played no role in our current inflation. So those who were saying the massive additional stimulus we were pumping into economy given current conditions would stoke the flames of inflation were all uneducated. And even though they have been proven correct educated people still know they are wrong. That's pretty wild.

I'm trying to figure out why Fla. can't have the same specials?

In Maryland, we have 300 million chickens and 6 million people. so we typically have good chicken prices. This Summer I saw chicken legs at .99 per lb. for the first time since the Chinese launched the bioweapon attack.

Wow, you're lucky! That's a great price. Idk why someone on low carb would drink soda unless it's zero sugar. I drink Zevia sometimes.
by now you should know ALTHEA s 100% full of shit - and I drink 0% sugar Coke
maybe 2 cans a night. water during the day, except winter I'll drink soem decafe coffee

well we only have Publix and Walmart - about $2.79 for boneless thighs.

If you cut them up for a stir fry ( or smother them in a sauce) i cant taste any real difference
over white meat

Congress is just as guilty as POTUS. Dems are worse but Repubs were all in .
Biden went the extra mile of hurt with his infrastructure ( 11 Repubs support) and his first COVID package-
but that was all Dems

There are multiple players/factors, both domestic and global, that have caused this inflation. Biden pushed for, and signed, the massive stimulus bill that "non educated" people said would stoke the flames of inflation. Not just the claim that Biden played no role but the claim that its educated people who know this is what's mind blowing to me.

If polling is to be believed inflation is either number one, or is at the top, of concerns for Americans. So not surprising the number one concern gets talked about. If there's a war overseas you may hear about it nightly on the news but it may not dominate your thoughts on a daily basis. For many people though its hard to avoid the large increases in gas, food and shelter costs. These things are in your face every day. If you're rich you may pay less attention to it but for those on a budget or don't have F U money it's not going to stop you from living your life but it can very well alter it.
i've seen stats that 60+% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck - and that was before Biden's inflation
My house insurance went up bigly .car insurance, pest control (mandatory in Fla) damn near evertything-
and shortages if you are looking for something too

The whole living paycheck to paycheck is a separate discussion. A decent number of those just don't make enough to save and truly live paycheck to paycheck. There are many others that choose to spend their money and not save (YOLO) and as a result also live paycheck to paycheck.

Edit: But to the point of inflation those latter folks will definitely feel it as well.

Biden's executive order that established a moratorium on leasing federal lands for oil and gas production; his call for the implementation of an Obama-era rule requiring oil and gas producers, processors and refiners to install expensive technology to detect methane leaks; the rollback of Trump-era reforms that lowered costs for energy producers; and the revocation of permits for the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have transported 830,000 barrels of oil a day; and proposed fee hikes on domestic energy producers leasing government land. Requiring banks to hold more capital when lending to carbon-intensive firms,,etc

I brought it up because if your budget is that tight, inflation is causing you to stop spending on some items so you can pay for others, or you add household debt. It's a killer for fixed incomes too
It's insidious (im sure you get all this)

I saw a big package of boneless chicken breasts one day for like $29 and was like, wow! We have Publix, Walmart, Winn Dixie, Sprouts, Whole Foods and that other high end grocer, forgot the name.

Do you have a Freshfield Farms in Orlando? They have great stuff, sometimes their chicken is very reasonable, you just have to shop around and catch it at the right time.

There is a Winn Dixie - a little cheaper then Publix. Whole foods is when I might treat myself.

I just wait for Publix BOGO's and stock up the freezer. Im not much on cooking - but my sister is fully recovered from her liver transplant, and she uses a pressure cooker. She'll cook a couple times a week

Ill have to look for Freshfield farms -thnx

The CPI is obviously a fraudulent number....I wonder what the actual inflation pressure on Americans is. It is almost certainly north of 15% y-o-y.

How is Biden supposed to control that?

trump didn't understand tariffs. With the billion$ that we paid in extra costs for his tariffs, he should have freed up money for manufacturing in this country. Especially chip manufacturing.

Instead he golfed. At least we now see the folly of increasing profits by offshoring labor. The inflation everyone is screaming about is nothing compared to the real price of goods once we manufacture here.

So what has Biden done that created inflation again?

I didnt suggest Biden should concern himself with it, you asked a question as yoiu dont seem to understand whats been going on in the world.

Trump's tarrifs were brilliant.

It's a sale price, albeit every week at one of the stores, but I'm getting chicken breast at that price and whole chickens as well.

I can't believe that with a little driving, Floridians cannot find a market that offers these sales just to get people into the store. For me it's 30 miles, which isn't worth it unless I schedule other things in the area.

Which I always do. Otherwise, the local sales still have chicken at $1.49/lb on a regular basis.

I know exactly what's going on in the world. trump's tariffs created higher prices and supply chain issues before the trump virus ravaged the world.

The general concensus in this thread is that inflation is Biden's fault.

You don't seem to understand tariffs at all. China pissed in trump's coffee, and he loved it.
