The Daily injustice report vol. 37

* Ten El Reno Oklahoma police officers are the subject of a lawsuit alleging that they responded to a man’s 911 medical assistance call asking for an EMT to assess his sick grandmother’s condition, only to taser the bed-ridden 86-year-old woman twice, cut off her oxygen supply, and cut up her arms when they forcibly handcuffed them both. The police say they feared for their safety when the sick old lady laid aggressively in bed at them.

* A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges after he allegedly shoved, kicked, and punched his wife while she was holding their 2-month-old baby and as their children watched and screamed. The wife also alleges that he called their teenage daughter as he left and told her she better get home before he killed her mom… misdemeanor?the average non cop would be facing felony terroristic threatening charges

* Three Solon Ohio police officers are under investigation after they tackled and slammed a 16-year-old boy’s head into the ground in front of his 12-year-old sister and then detained them both at gunpoint because they were jogging down the street as officers were responding to reports of a burglary nearby. The kids were eventually released after officers found out a middle-aged adult suspect was apprehended. Solon Police Chief Wayne Godzich told Fox 8 at this point he believes the officers were following procedure. If Solon police procedures are to beat down and threaten with drawn weapons teenagers in the area of any crime, maybe they should be re-evaluated?

* A US State Department diplomatic security agent is the subject of an investigation and a restraining order, but hasn’t been charged, after being accused of giving his wife brain damage when he repeatedly bashed her head off a floor after she accused him of having an affair.

* A Golden Beach Florida police officer received a mere four months of probation for kidnapping and assaulting his wife with their kids in the car and as neighbors looked on and called the cops. The judge in the case overturned the jury’s decision to convict him on battery charges, leaving only a false imprisonment charge standing.despite being charged with kidnapping and battery (a domestic violence crime) the thug was allowed to remain ON THE JOB! (violation of federal law) 'only-one' standards again.

* A Brooksville Florida police lieutenant who apparently has the worst record in that department with a history of 30 complaints and 8 reprimands has been suspended with pay yet again pending an internal affairs investigation for unspecified reasons. How is he still a cop and why don’t we know what he’s under investigation for this time? Wendy McElroy explains it better than I can.Citizens better start getting ACTIVE in their public servant accountability if they want to avoid boots on their faces.

* A Pennsylvania State trooper has been charged with solicitation to commit arson on allegations that he asked an ex-con to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s home in exchange for getting warnings on any future investigations he might be a subject of.

* Three Buffalo New York police officers have been suspended for one month without pay as discipline for drinking at a bar while in uniform and punching an off-duty transit cop who allegedly asked them to behave themselves as they were apparently making a scene which garnered the attention of other bar patrons, who began taking video of the spectacle. The officers where in dress uniform but off-duty after they left an awards ceremony. Other disciplinary action against more officers involved may be pending.Seeing how this is New York and appeals will certainly be filed, it can easily be seen that these 3 officers will get back pay by some remediator

* A Cobb County Georgia police officer has resigned after being arrested on possession of child pornography charges. Seems an unspecified tip to internal affairs sparked an investigation that culminated in a search conducted at his home which allegedly resulted in numerous files and photographs of juveniles being discovered.

* The police chief of Brunswick Florida is apparently being fired for misleading city officials about an officer who was up for disciplinary action for having sex with a prostitute. We reported on the allegations against the chief a few days ago when the chief blamed the misdirection on an oversight.

* A Richland County South Carolina deputy was cited for driving too fast for conditions when he rear-ended another vehicle in his cruiser while on-duty, injuring the teenage driver and his grandmother when that car flipped over. The deputy was not responding to any calls at the time so he’s now under investigation to determine why he was speeding.WHY he was speeding? does it matter if he wasn't responding to a call?

* Another Richland County South Carolina deputy was suspended after being arrested on DUI charges by a state patrol trooper while off-duty.

* An Akron Ohio police officer is the subject of a lawsuit filed by a woman who he arrested a day after she took a video of him making an arrest she felt was too rough and then refusing his order to give him her camera. The officer was already in our feed a while back for this incident when he was given a 45 day suspension after he tried to fight his 15 day suspension over the incident… so this won’t result in an update to our statistical database… at least unless/until there’s a settlement or judgment against the officer.the city is desperately trying to settle this, I imagine, because the officer in question totally ignored a lawful order from his superior to NOT take the camera and NOT charge her.
