The Democrat's “do nothing" house.

Will the Democrats fail to regain the White House, due to the “do nothing House of Representatives”?

Madam Speaker, Congresswoman Pelosi, the task of managing the less manageable is a difficult challenge. Half of the 2019 session has passed and the Democratic House has not passed any meaningful populist legislation that discomforts U.S. Senate Republicans.

The Democratic Party will run a negative campaign while failing to pass a minimum wage rate gradually increased to achieve 125% of its February-1968 Consumer Price Index and thereafter retaining that CPI?
The Democratic majority will also have failed to pass a meaningful infrastructure bill?

When the Democratic Party enters the 2020 elections lacking a proud recent record, President Trump and his party may well prevail against the “do nothing Democratic House of Representatives".* President Truman successfully ran a similar campaign against a "do nothing Republican Congress".

Dems have passed over 100 bills and only 7 went through the Senate. McConnell is the do nothing star.
Gonzomin, REGARDLESS of the Republican Senate, and if President trump continues to retain his base while voters lose patience with a Democratic House only acting negatively, offering NO EXPLICIT POSITIVE ECONOMIC ALTERNAIVES, President Trump and his party may well prevail against the “do nothing Democratic House of Representatives". President Truman successfully ran a similar campaign against a "do nothing Republican Congress.

By your logic, Republicans will lose the Senate

Althea, I suppose I expressed myself in proper English.

My posts did not explicitly make any prediction regarding the 2020 Senate elections. They did contend if the Democratic House majority fails to pass some populist legislation, particularly some populist economic bills, and specifically a gradual but substantial increase of the federal minimum wage rate that will thereafter retain its purchasing power, there's a good possibillity that President Trump will be re-elected.

In my opinion, if President Trump's re-elected, the Republicans will also do very well in their national, state, and local elections, they'll again have advantages when the new congressional district lines are drawn, and will generally increase their political powers.

So this time around, you correctly assume that turnout will determine the election, not the refusal by McConnell to bring any House bills to the floor.

And that will be the reason trump gets killed in this election.

Althea, House Speaker Pelosi's task is to keep House Democrats from doing or saying nonsensical things like a “70% marginal tax rate” or discussing presidential impeachment.

If the house continues their committees' pressures on the White House while passing some good populist economic house bills; (particularly passing a minimum wage bill that will gradually lead to a rate of sufficiently strong purchasing power and retain that purchasing power thereafter), Then they can and should have less regard for the Senate and the White House opinions.
The Senate will do whatever they will do.

Regardless of whatever will be Republican Senate's responses, it will be to Democrats' advantages; but if the Senate actually pass companion populist bills, and the two chambers can resolve those bills, and the president actually signs those bills, that would be to our nation's best advantages.

Other than that, Democrats should pray that Donald Trump's voice and tweeting fingers remain healthy; he's the Democrat's most effective supporter for the 2020 elections.

The economy is a creation of the left. Obama pulled the economy from a second great depression that Bush's Republican policies made. He put the economy on solid ground. Trump
has been riding that economy. If you think not, then explain what economic policies Trump and the reds passed. All trump did was get a tax cut for the top 1 percent. He is helping the plutocracy get stronger . He has started tariff wars, which are a tax on consumers. Those wars also hurt farmers and manufacturers who use aluminum. In what way, do Trump's stupid policies help the people or the economy?
Trump will fuck it up because trump is ignorant about the workings of the government or the economy.
Like I said, the Dems passed over 100 bills in Congress and roadblock Mitch would not even put them on the floor.
Trumps base is going nowhere. That 35 percent is immovable. remember when Trump said "I could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any voters" Trump was shocked to see how well his con worked on a larger scale.
The Dem voters are likely to lose patience. They see trump for the blundering, not too bright crook that he ,is and they want him gone. there are lots of Trump closest advisers and staff in jail. There will be a lot more before this is done.
Today Trump was talking about impeachment and said he did not see how the courts would permit it. Impeachment does not occur in the court system. It originates(not oranges) in the house . Once impeachment is achieved it goes to the senate for a trial. None of that is in the courts. The accidental president has been in office for over 2 years and has not bothered to learn the constitution or how to do his job. The simplest and most rudimentary parts of the presidency are still foreign to him.

On this we agree. The House has been doing exactly what you suggest. As far as rhetoric about taxes/social issues, nothing matters except what is actually passed.

Bills have to go through both the house and senate, then get signed by the president. As you can see, the Dems hold only one of those. The Dems would fix lots of the problems but it does not have the power. The Dems are setting the table for the legislation they would pass if we had a Dem senate too.

A bit off topic, but I noticed now the Trumpkins are big on the Democrats don't offer "alternatives" and therefore will lose in 2020.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the GOP run in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 with "no alternatives" other than hating anything Obama and Hillary is evil? Nine years later they still haven't come up with the "alternative" to the ACA they promised in 2010

Gonzomin, the 2020 elections for federal offices, (i.e. the elections of both U.S. Congressional representatives and senators, and of the president and vice president), will ALL be won or lost dependent upon the Democratic houses record since the beginning of this year when they regained the House's majority.
Until then, there's likely little desirable legislation that could pass through reconciliation between the Democratic House and Republican Senate.

The Republican Party thus far have been retaining their base. Trump has his own (thus far) very well attached base. Since the election of President Obama, Republicans openly declared and maintained absolutely uncompromising positions as their policy on all issues.

Democrats efforts to compromise, negotiate and appease Republicans (by arguing and negotiating only within the Democratic Party itself), has been detrimental to both the nation and the Democratic Party. Abandoning the party's populist heritage has been detrimental to our nation while effectively whittling away support for Democratic candidates in general elections. Voters will not, and should not support an “us too, but not so much” party.

Do you know that the day after Obama was elected, the Repub leaders had a private meeting about what to do? It included all the red bigshots from the House and Senate. Their decision was to fight every single thing that Obama wanted to do . Then they had a big press conference in public proudly announcing they refused to govern, refused to compromise.
McConnell capped off the meeting with his proud announcement that his job was to make Obama a one-term president.
McConnell has no respect for the Constitution in word or intent.
