Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took Republicans to task on the Senate floor for failing to properly address climate change, referencing the ongoing tornado devastation in the Midwest as proof of that immediate action is needed.

“So, you may have a question for me,” the Rhode Island Democrat said, The Daily Caller reported. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse … care if we Republicans run off the climate cliff like a bunch of proverbial lemmings and disgrace ourselves? I’ll tell you why. We’re stuck in this together. … When cyclones tear up Oklahoma and hurricanes swamp Alabama and wildfires scorch Texas, you come to use, the rest of the country, for billions of dollars to recover.”

Moreover, he said, the environmental damage suffered in other states stretches to Rhode Island “with floods and storms,” The Daily Caller said.

Speaking directly to Republicans, he said: “You drag America with you to your fate. … I want a Republican Party that has returned to its senses and is strong and a worthy adversary in a strong America that has done right by its people and the world. … I don’t want a Republican Party disgraced, that let its extremists run off the cliff, and an America suffering from grave economic and environmental and diplomatic damage because we failed, because we didn’t wake up and do our duty to our people,” The Daily Caller reported.

Or its a tornado. We get those. Even in my neck of the woods. A whole average of 3 per century. Had one a few years ago.

Oh yes like not working living beyond their means popping out children to milk the system, maybe look at those in your own party when it comes to tax cheats.

I am sorry you believe this is how all poor people behave. I don't find this to be the case at all. There is a small percentage of poor who do this, but most poor are decent, hard working people, who pay their way, live very frugally and are too proud to ask for help.

Why don't you do some real research on the welfare rolls and find out what percentage of our population is actually taking advantage of the system? You'll be surprised at how few it actually is.

Well...I did.it one time...just to make sure that.my position was factually correct. It turned out that the number of folks on full blown welfare was between 1-3% of the population. Now this was towards the end of the Bush administration that I looked into it. So, let's say that because of economic circumstances, it doubled...we are looking at 2-6% of the population that is living SOLEY on government assistance. Andnhow.many of that 2-6% are physically, mentally or otherwise disabled?

Those people don't concern me...what does. Concern.me is the people BUSTING THEIR ASSES working and still needing to have govenrment come in and subsidize their existence. That's a travesty. We've always prided ourselves on the notion that hard work pays off....and sadly, that's no longer the case for a great deal of our citizens.
 
Most Walmart managers started as hourly workers. I'm not saying neocons are smart, but too many dems who don't make money are woefully ignorant on economics.

I amnot talking about the poor I am talking about those who milk the system and there are plenty black, white, yellow, brown, people who do it.
