The Fallacy Fallacy Why you shouldn't go looking for faulty reasoning everywhere.

In my experience, fallacy theory is not just useless—it can be actively harmful. It encourages intellectual laziness, offering high-minded excuses to dismiss any argument you don’t like. It impoverishes debate by pretending that messy, real-world disagreements can be resolved with the blunt tools of formal logic. You end up like my students: slightly paranoid, dismissive, and, ironically, less critical than when they started.

This just sounds like you don't like having the errors in your reasoning pointed out to you. You make a lot of unsubstantiated claims in that post. Maybe that's something you should consider before whining about fallacies.

Thanks, great article.

You are very stupid.

Logic is about the structure of reasoning, which relies greatly on facts. yes, ignoring logical structure leads to sloppy reasoning even when facts are correct. A good argument needs accurate facts, clear definitions, inferences that are truthful, and common assumptions that are transparently true.

Maybe but it doesn't change anything. This is just you whining about people pointing how stupid you actually are. You're inherently unequipped to engage people in a rational discussion
When you state an argument without your usual juvenile insults I will respond.

Logic is not just a statement of facts. It is the relation.

I have and when you can't reply you resort to your usual drivel. In my estimation your OP sounds like you don't want the fallacies in your argument to be pointed out to you. That's not an insult of any type it's an observation. People make false claims all the time. There is no better example of that than this site.

A false claim is not a logical fallacy.
