Not surprising that most of these cities have an above average poverty rate as well.

Yep...because three McDoubles cost less than a decent, nutritious meal....all hail the corpratocracy, the plutocracy....with liberty and justice....for them.

And what is this magic number that you feel a wage should be?

It's amazing how conservatives, no matter where I go, ask the exact same questions in these matters. It's almost like you all get your talking points from the same place.....oh wait.... you do!

Anyway....to answer your question...whatever it takes.

Let me ask you something....should companies and people be able to make unlimited amounts of money while the people of their country and the country itself suffers? I mean....how much do these people need? When is it ever enough?

I don't have a problem with rich people in general. But if they're paying their employees so little that they need food stamps, housing subsidies and Medicaid... then guess what? That means that your tax dollars and mine are subsidizing their profits. Maybe your OK with welfare for billionaires, but I think it sucks.

Since your reply of "What ever it takes" is subjective, could you be more specific?
How much should a low level employee be paid?

My response to your query is that no one is forcing anyone to work for such a company.

There is no proof that that is the connection. Most indications are that the connection is due to the fact that food is a cheap luxury. A healthy diet costs less than what the average impoverished person spends on food. Orwell pointed out as much in The Road to Wigan Pier and it is as true today as it was then.

Yeah...because there are so many options out there. Sounds like you are cool and accepting of giving your tax dollars to billionaires.

How much should s low level employee be paid? If they are working full time, they should be paid enough to live a modest life and raise a family one one to 1 1/2 incomes. Two full time incomes should allow even low level workers to have a little money in the bank and be able to afford a few niceties... like taking their kids on a modest vacation once a year.

If you're looking for an exact number, you ain't gonna get one...because it varies from one region to the next and it varies on the cost if living.

A minimum of 1/6th the salary his/her respective company's top earner.

And, especially in a highly competitive market, a lack of education and a need to generate income force you to work for such a company.

That seems quite high libertad. I think that if a low level employee makes enough to keep a roof over their heads, pay their bills comfortably, feed their families comfortably and still be able to keep some money in the bank...that's a fair day's pay for a fair day's work.

Your last paragraph is spot on though.

Since you have carried over the same ineptness that you've used in all of your other discussions; let me simplify it for you.

We have two employees, who started work at the same time and have the same skill level in flipping burgers and making french fries.
Worker one is 19 years old, has no dependents, and lives at home.
Worker two is 26 years old, has 2 dependents, and is renting a 1 bedroom apartment.

What should worker 1 be paid?
What should worker 2 be paid?

The same....they're doing the same job. Which is as I described earlier.

How much should big multinational companies make? Is it OK for them to wreck our economy, put people into relative poverty, and to force government to make up the difference in assistance to our citizens so that they can pad their ledgers?

I always thought you guys were against welfare....guess that only applies to the people who actually need it. Welfare for billionaires is A-OK with you folk.

You were kind of vague on how much that would be and only referred to it, in an obscure way.
Maybe you could use Pennsylvania as a base line for what they should be payed there. :)

It varies company to company. The wage ratio, which works pretty much universally, has already been given to you.
