The GOP...a WASP nest

Why would the GOP nominate a moderate? Are they looking for another McCain moment?

I don't know. Are they looking for complete irrelvency by nominating a social conservative? Besides, McCain wasn't a moderate. He was a traditional conservative. People confuse Bush, who was a political reactionary as being a conservative. He was not. Most of those identified as being on the far right of the Republican party are not political conservatives be are, more correctly, political reactionaries. Just as Ralph Nader is not a liberal. He is a radical.

Putting that aside. If you think that the Republican party can regain prominence and build a ruling coalition with out co-opting the center your sadly mistaken. There just not enough voters on the right side of the political spectrum. The Republican party needs to find a message that will attract moderate and independent voters. If they cannot find it in them to compromise to some degree on some issues, then they will fail. That's just a political reality.

Ya'll need to start reaching out to people like me and Damo and Topper or your screwed.

Mick was the least conservative of the 2008 GOP candidates, thus the term "moderate" certainly describes him perfectly: http://www.conservative.org/archive2/2008potus.asp

I've never mistook Bush for a conservative, and I don't know any other fellow conservative who has either.

Reagan campaigned as a social and fiscal conservative and won two landslide elections. The first was against Carter, the worst president of the 20th century and a flaming liberal. His second victory was against a more moderate Democrat and the margin of victory was larger, unless I'm mistaken.

I'm on record here for urging Obama to go left as fast and far as possible and so far he has not disappointed. This will collapse the economy, possibly cause nuclear war in the middle east and/or Korea, as well as disgust voters with his defamation of the Founders. "Carter II" will create an opportunity for a social and fiscal conservative to lead you, Damo and Topper, along with a large majority of Americans back into economic, diplomatic and social reality.

You are urging him to do something that will cause the collapse of our economy and possibly cause nuclear war?

You are urging him to destroy the nation. How do you know what his nature is?
Again I am urging him to be true to his nature. His nature is to be a radical liberal, and I know this based on the historical record; his State and Federal congressional voting record, his public statements and his personal associations and their public statements.

And because of this you urge him to destroy the economy and cause a nuclear war?

Strange patriotism.
