THE GOP...PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES!

1) Let’s see, now…the GOP considers itself to be the party of “family values”…and it also considers Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump to be exemplars of the party…supposedly outstanding presidents they have brought to guide the Republic.

2) Reagan was a man who cheated on his first wife; got his second wife pregnant before marrying her; and who headed a family so dysfunctional, two of his kids wrote books excoriating both mother and father for their poor parenting skills.

3) Now they have Trump who…

..ahhh, why bother. You people all know the story with this clown.

4) The American Christian right LOVED both of them.

Just a few observations I thought I’d share. Hope I can elicit a few comments on them.

I can almost guarantee I’ll love each and every comment offered.

Having a three year old daughter my parenting skills, and helping her become a CEO at an early age, are at the forefront of much of my thought these days. Now I was very young when Reagan ran for President so I don't have personal memories of the campaigns. Was it a big campaign issue at the time that he was supposedly a poor father? I ask that in the context of were voters informed about this and should have taken that into account when voting?

Yes, it was known and discussed as was his multiple marriages and cheating. Just as now, the (R) voters didn't care that they were electing a personally-flawed B movie actor, suffering from the early stages of dementia, to represent us on the world stage. The churchie folks also didn't care that Nancy had her own astrologer and believed in paranormal stuff. And we see how *that* turned out. Even though it was decades ago, Saint Ronnie is still high on the pedestal next to the altar at the Holy Church of Republican Hypocrisy.

In the intervening years, the GOP has gone so far to the dark side that St. Ronnie would be unelectable today as a RINO.

christianity accepts that people are flawed. you guys are idiots.

cancel culture is more judgemental and less forgiving than Christianity.

Self-identified Christians are no more or less moral, on average, than anyone else.

I also do not believe that rightwing activist "Christians" ever really gave a rat's ass about moral values in our leaders. Moral values was weaponized and a political instrument to attack Democrats, and elevate Republicans.

The fact that the very same bible thumpers who were so "outraged" about Bill Clinton, but have resorted to deifying and worshipping the noteworthy sleazebag Donald Trump as their Demigod, speaks to just how cynical and phony the whole "moral values" political philosophy was.

Christianity does, many on the right don't, well, except if it is someone on their side who is flawed, wasn't it Nyet who questioned Clinton's morality while he was cheating on his sick wife with a cleric in his office?

THE GOP...PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES!

So you think the DNC is the Party of Family values? What an idiot.

nobody I know is morally perfect.

Wrong; that would be the Democratic Party of the Jackass that destroys families with its anti-religious rancor, supports Marxist policies and open borders and hates America. If you had a brain larger than a bird seed, you could comprehend the OBVIOUS.

I don't think the fact that Nancy and Ronald Reagan were absentee parents...and very unskilled parents...was a big factor. But the fact that he was divorced and remarried...and that he had cheated on Jane Wyman, his first wife, and gotten Nancy pregnant before marrying her...WAS KNOWN.

Mostly I do not care about who voted for him or why. (I voted for him the first time he ran...a vote I regret with all my heart.) But to continue to hold him in such high regard by the phonies who proclaim love of morality and virtue...is a bit tough to take.

only if you consider baby murder equal to wart removal.

Once again you are a lying partisan hack. I don't think you can post without lying.

Donald Trump isn't banging interns in the White House or lying under oath about it and obstructing Justice. I do wish you had a brain larger than bird seed, really I do.

But hey, BillyBob's sexual behavior and illegal acts were A OK with the Democratic Party of the Jackass. So much so that they never supported his impeachment for acts that are actually impeachable.

Today, impeachment to the same hacks has been dumbed down to not liking to lose an election or not liking the man.

Did you support Bill Clinton? Yes or No?

I want to be sure; is this the new standard you expect from Democratic candidates? Who are you supporting in this election?

Frank mentioned parenting skills which is what I was asking about.
