The left should chill

/shrugs.....because the alternative was a candidate who lied to congressional investigators under oath and accepted bribes......it wasn't a real contest.......

Hey, if women are stupid enough to vote against their own interests, they'll have to live with the consequences.

trump is a liar unparalleled, to compare his lies to anyone's is farcical.

And by that, I don't mean give up the fight, or the passion, or the principles.

But Trump won, and he won fair & square. So did a GOP Congress. I like the protests as a statement of "we're still here & we're still going to fight," but they lose me at "he's not my President." I hated that stuff w/ Obama.

I think, for the most part, the reason for this extreme reaction has a lot more to do w/ Trump's personality. It is a tough one to take, especially for our President. He's a crass boor, and a narcissist, and he clearly does have issues with women. He's not very likeable on a personal level; he's arrogant, petulant & vindictive. On that level, I'm deeply embarrassed for America today.

As far as ideology, the left should have an easier time w/ him than any recent Republican candidate or President in modern times. Trump is pretty left-of-center in a lot of areas:
- On foreign policy, he's probably going to be more of a pacifist than Hillary (who is a hawk) would have been.
- One of his first initiatives is going to be a trillion dollar infrastructure spend, which will create a ton of jobs - who could be against that?
- He's going to repatriate over a trillion dollars.
- While he wants to repeal Obamacare, he DOES want universal healthcare (what GOP candidate every campaigned on that one?)
- Don't be surprised if some of his SCOTUS nominees are moderate. I expect his 1st to be very conservative, because he's replacing Scalia. But I doubt that he wants to be the President who got Roe overturned, and he has already said he wants gay marriage to stay legal.
- The debt - I have no idea what he is going to do, but he is going to be infinitely more committed to at least decreasing it than Hillary ever was. And if you hold liberal programs dear to your heart, you should want this, because they'll be the first budget items to go if we ever tip the scales & resort to austerity measures.

There are Democrats who are more right-wing than Trump. As hard as this is to accept, I'd encourage Hillary voters to focus on the positive and where there is common ground. Let's give the overblown buffoon a chance.

While I agree w/ your thought, many obviously do not & are not going to persuaded by "he aint that bad".... NO ONE KNOWS HOW BAD HE MIGHT BE, or how good... HE BULL SHITTED HIS WAY INTO THE WHITE HOUSE W/ NO RECORD & BEING ON EVERY SIDE OF EVERY ISSUE....

As I have repeatedly said, the problem isn't his policy, it's him.... That~ he hasn't changed has it/he?

When he starts getting flack about his policies from around the world, around the nation & from his own party we will see if he is still the heartless SOB he has played so far in his life, or something else....

IMO this is a red herring. We are talking about the US election and a particular candidate's comments about women he dealt with here. And if trump is serious about not allowing Muslims including brutalized women into the country until they pass some sort of test, then he gets black marks for that, too.

You're making the same mistake as Thing: Trump wasn't alone in the universe making comments about women. The comments came up in the context of an election against Hillary Clinton. Who is married to Bill Clinton---nearly enough said just with that.

But it was compounded by the fact the Clinton Foundation took money from Muslim countries that go way, way, beyond locker room talk in terms of denigrating women.

It was in *that context* that so many women were able to look past Trump's words and vote for him over Hillary.

Are you guys serious? He even said in an interview "I can't say that either" when asked if he treats women w/ respect.

He can't hire in 2016 according to his lack of respect for them, but the lack of respect is clear as day. I'm sorry you guys can't see it. Almost everyone else can. This is an issue Trump has - deal with it.

Of course you got that from a cherry picked and edited Hillary campaign add, unless you want to link everyone to the FACTUAL comment. :palm:

It's funny that you took issue with "indisputable," but rely on the puerile "I'm destroying you."

Again - he responded to an interviewers question about women by suggesting that she was menstruating. The end.

When he gets a blow job from a very young intern, then lies about it to Congress, let me know; because until then, it's obvious that you let your grapes go sour and now you don't like the taste.

:dealwithit:

This^. Even when Obama's policies fell flat on their face, he continued to push them. Making him a true Ideologue. Like you said Trump isn't. Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to get stuff done. Even if it pisses off his own party, and that can be good.

I will probably not like some of his proposals and ideas, but I will be happy that our govt is actually accomplishing something.

I'm surprised more people don't see this.

If Trump doesn't end up pissing conservatives off at some point, I'll be very surprised. It was part of the gambit if you voted for him. And if conservatives are pissed you know what that means lol.

Trump may be a little too anxious to get the deals going. Conservatives will need to stay engaged and keep him in line, because once liberals figure out Trump really isn't Adolph Hitler and is willing to compromise, trouble could come of it.

But at least it will be the end of gridlock.

Hillary lost the election. She's yesterday's news.

All I said in the OP was that Trump clearly has issues with women. He does. That shouldn't be such a shock, or a point that his supporters really want to go to the mat about.

You also attempted to use a DNC talking point and cherry picked reference.

Twenty-five years later we're still hearing about Bill Clinton, and he did nothing trump didn't do. Bill was a pig too, but he didn't degrade women like trump does.

So why are so many GOP women still standing with Trump?

“I have no problem with a man being a man. I like him because he’s real. He’s saying it like it is. If you want to be treated like a lady, act like a lady.” Michelle Letner, Trump supporter

Several women who donated to Trump’s campaign told msnbc that they aren’t bothered by Trump’s remarks about women. “I like that he’s not politically correct,” said Michelle Letner, a 48-year-old commercial cleaner from Medina, Ohio, who donated $225 to Team Trump. On the derogatory names Kelly brought up during the debate, Letner—who said she’s never donated to a candidate in the past – said, “I have no problem with a man being a man. I like him because he’s real. He’s saying it like it is. If you want to be treated like a lady, act like a lady.”

Susan Speros, the CEO of a business technology company in Savannah, Georgia, who donated $500 to the campaign, said she too wasn’t concerned with Trump’s remarks. “Everyone needs to take their offended hats off and needs to worry about what’s happening in this country,” like the economy and national security, she said. “I think Trump is a smart man and what he doesn’t know, he’ll surround himself with smart people and he’ll get the job done.”

Lori Pesta, creator of the Women For Donald Trump Facebook page – which has nearly 2,000 likes – is going as far to organize a “national women for Trump” day across the country on Oct. 18. “We want to show our support that women are behind Donald Trump, as are men as well … I think Donald Trump is very pro-women,” said the Atlanta resident.
