The left will lie about anything

Gavin Newsom occasionally mentions that his mother was a teenager when she had him, in an effort to downplay his privileged background.

An easily disproven lie.

His mother was born November 28, 1946, and he was born October 1, 1967. She was nearly 21 years old when he was born, which was the average age of a first-time mother in the 1960s.

As Newsom’s spokesman said last year, it’s the emotional aspects of his stories that matter to him, “not, you know, facts.”

While Gov. Shapiro loves to ignore facts (he thinks you’re stupid), let’s set the record straight here.

The ACA (“Obamacare”) was enacted on a partisan basis.

We were all told it would lower the cost of healthcare and we could keep our plans.

Nothing was further from the truth, but that’s how everyone got sold on it.

Since Obamacare’s enactment, the cost of healthcare has risen steadily.

To hide the rising costs from higher-income Obamacare enrollees, the White House autopen and Congressional Democrats extended and expanded additional "temporary"subsidies, so covered individuals would not know how much their "affordable" plans were costing. They didn't see the costs that were sloughed off onto taxpayers.

When the plandemic ended, these "temporary subsidies the Democrats cooked up were extended twice while the they still controlled majorities in both chambers of Compress. Both times the Democrats extended the premium subsidies, they, and they alone set an end date of December 31, 2025.

But then, Trump was reelected, and the GOP took majorities in the House and Senate.

Now the Democrats didn't have the votes to extend those "temporary" subsidies again, but they realized that Obamacare enrolees would soon get a gigantic premium increase notice.

So what did they do?

Instead of funding the government through November 21, they used Senate Rules to block the advance of the funding bill, 14 times.

So, the government shut down. Last year's money is all spent.

They've been demanding that the GOP (who'd already passed a spending bill that would have kept the government funded at last year's level) give them what they didn't have the votes to enact - namely, expand the subsides again, and MAKE THEM PERMANENT.

That's unacceptable for financial reasons.

So, here we are.
