There is an even more basic issue. Ok, the fans voted him the most "influential" athlete. But can he win football games as a QB? These teams spend millions to have a winning season. The fact that Michael Vick had a comeback at all shows that the coaches and owners don't give a damn about what the public thinks as long as the player can help the team win games.
Obviously, the Jets don't think Tebow is the right person for that job, otherwise he would still be on the roster.

If the question is whether he is a classic NFL QB in the mode of Marino, nope he isn't. Remember when there was a negro QB out of Washington who the so called "experts" didn't think could play QB. He is in the Hall of Fame right now.

The media didn't kill his career. The owners and coaches of an NFL football team wouldn't care if he wore a clerical collar under his pads, or whether he danced the tango in Time Square wearing pink tights. What they care about is whether or not he is thw best choice to be part of that team. Maybe you've heard of the concept of a TEAM?
If Tebow was the best fit they would have kept him, media be damned. If he wasn't a good fit, he would have been gone regardless of what the media said.

SJJJ started this exact same thread last year regarding Tebow. You had an owner that wanted him (Woody Johnson) and a coach that didn't (Rex Ryan). The coach chose not to play him. Despite the fact that he never played, the media, especially ESPN, wouldn't shut up about him.
Seems to me a good destination could be a Florida team where his college pedigree might draw some fans but who knows.
