[h=1]Auburn Man Facing Charges After Killing Bear In His Backyard[/h]
AUBURN (CBS) – A 76-year-old Auburn man is facing charges after killing a bear in his backyard.
Richard Ahlstrand told WBZ-TV he was stocking his bird feeder Friday night when a bear about seven feet tall and 300-to-400 pounds started chasing him.
That’s when he turned his shotgun on the bear.

Well, I have other questions, I think he may have been baiting them with the intent of killing them.

Remember when the police were appreciated? Now *shudder* they're LIBERALS!

Anyhow, this old coot, who happens to be a teabagger "hero" now for "standing his ground" against the big black bear is full of it. Not only that, but does a responsible gun owner have an expired weapons license?

Ahlstrand is facing a summons to Worcester District Court, where he is expected to be arraigned for illegally killing an animal, baiting a bear, discharge of a weapon within 500-feet of a dwelling, three counts of illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police said.

Auburn police Chief Andrew Sluckis said he and the state’s environmental police — who are also investigating — are not buying Ahlstrand’s story. He said Ahlstrand had an expired firearms license, which is why he is facing gun charges. Sluckis said he believes the 50-gallon drum filled with bird seed that Ahlstrand had was used as bait to attract the bear, not to fill feeders.

“If he was in as much fear as he is claiming he should have stayed in the house, where he would have been safe, and called 911,” Sluckis said. “That’s what we’re here for.”

I suspect that there is more to this story.....

A few years ago the local paper ran a story about a man who was charged with killing an aligator after he had "accidently"ran it over. The wack jobs were insensed about the enviromentalism gone amuck and how this man was simply minding his own business and the damm aligaitor had run out into traffic.

I asked my friend who does most of the enviromental prosecution here in town. 1)There was a witness who said the guy ran the aligator down in his truck. 2) the guy was a trapper who sold animal skins for profit. 3) The guy had two priors for illegally harvesting and selling aligator skins. Do you think the LIBERAL paper reported those facts? No, because just another illegal gator trapper would not have sold as many papers.

Here we call animal control when a wild critter comes into a yard. This geezer wanted to kill a bear. Why wasn't he stocking the feeder during the day?

I know reading isn't your thing... but do at least TRY...

No, I read that part. If you see a bear in your yard on Thursday night you have to be a special kind of idiot to fill up your bear food containers in your yard on Friday night, unless you're hunting bears. So, yeah, idiot or liar are still the winning answers.

You would be in lots of trouble in my state for doing that and then killing the bear!

The post from the pinheads was really damn entertaining....it was well worth posing the article.....

the ranting, raving and whining is just awesome.....to call you pinheads morons would be an insult to morons....

Why was he filling his bird feeders when it was dark ?.....

Every home with a bird feeder is now "baiting" bears....to kill them with a shotgun ?

Call animal control when you're attacked by a bear ?

A 400lb. bear is now called "a wild critter" ? Really?

Even the tea party gets a mention.

And to top it off...we hear "a fifty gallon barrell filled with bird seed isn't a feeder", how astute...did someone claim it was a bird feeder?
Could it have been a storage container for bird seed....maybe...

Personally, I use a 30 gal. metal can because the squirrels chew right through the plastic ones.....
and damn....I usually fill the feeders after dusk too....the birds like a good hearty breakfast.

Great thread !

You do have a way of turning a goose into a swan, even if you're the only one who can tell it's a swan.

Well, I don't think this guy is telling it like it was myself....he heard a noise outside, grabbed his shotgun and went outside to check?
Naugh, I don't buy the story either.....

nevertheless, the comments from the pinheads were just too off the wall for me not to comment on them.....their imaginations must run wild to
dream up that stuff....
They don't know what happened but they can make up what they don't know for sure to rationalize anything.....amusing...very amusing.

Lol...backtrack much there, Bravo? I thought this was all about them eeeeevil liberals?

Thats what you always think......and you take the bait like a rat racing for the cheese...............

I didn't really think you would be so easy......it had nothing to do with politics but the rats in the kitchen took you over the edge.....

Its amazing to watch you make shit up to fill in the blanks to boltster your paranoia...
