Trump's 34 felonies were within the statute of limitations. The statute of limitations is normally 5 years but the governor of NY signed 2 executive orders extending the statute of limitations because of the Covid crisis. Trump's crimes were committed in 2017. He was indicted in 2023. Outside the normal 5 year statute of limitations but allowed because of the tolling for all crimes for one year that occurred in 2020.

The funny thing about the law is they don't care what you think someone looks like. The court cares about the facts. And the fact is that no crime committed in 1983 with a 5 year statute of limitations can be charged in 2025.

The actual law says that a crime that is not murder committed in the 1980s can't be prosecuted in 2025.

There was no trick to charge Trump. Trump was charged within the statute of limitations which had been extended due to Covid. There is no extension of statute of limitations for 35 years.

Not really. An alleged crime that happened 40 years ago can not legally result in an indictment. It is time barred.
