Yes, they did. The House passed a "clean" CR to keep government funded as it currently was. In the Senate, the Republicans had 53 out of a needed 60 votes to pass that CR. The Democrats refused 13 times to vote to pass that CR.

Instead, the Democrats have demanded that a CR with $1.5 trillion in NEW spending be passed to ensure that Obamacare subsidies are funded in full for the next two years. That isn't a CR, it's a spending bill. They want to spend like Barbie out on a shopping spree with daddy's credit cards. They don't give a shit what that will do to inflation, the CPI, or anything else. They'll just blame that too on the Republicans.

It gets old. The Democrats spend like there's no limit to the money available. The Republicans want limits and are willing to discuss those once a clean CR passes to keep government running while they do that with the Democrats. The Democrats refuse, except for a few now who are breaking ranks. I think it's 3 or 4 that have voted for the clean CR. That leaves another 3 or so needed to pass it.

This is entirely the Schumer shutdown.
