Here is a long intellectual article from the Atlantic, telling us how it is "awful" to have a "Melting Pot"... That is the norm. So when folks are surprised by you embracing the Melting Pot, that would be why. Melting Pot is exactly what the conservatives push for, while it is "multiculturalism" that liberals tend to lean towards.
