Unfortunately, most people are stupidly short-sighted. If I say "You'll pay more taxes, but the savings will leave you with more money," the average person only hears "You'll pay more taxes."

Idiots talk about socialist countries that are actually Capitalistic. They look at their Ikea shelves, drive a Volvo, use a Nokia phone , watch their kids play with Lego and still think Scandanavian countries are not Capitalistic.

Don't be so hard on Bernie. Denmark corrected him, but I think he might understand what socialism actually means now.

Socialism never got more real than a term you learn in government classes. We vaguely remember it what it meant because it does not exist in the real world. Bernie is no socialist. He claimed to be one long ago. but now he just wants a fairer wealth distribution and healthcare for all.

Venezuela was starting a society based on Socialism. It had a problem, it was based on a single product for financing ..oil. That made them vulnerable to the plutocrats who had a method to control them. They determine the worldwide price of oil. Venezuela did not have a chance, but it was not because of the label. Until they were screwed over on oil, Venezuela was becoming a better country. Do you think it is better off now?

America is a socially regressive nation that still had slavery as recently as the 1860s.
We are the only developed nation in the world without universal healthcare.
Our democratic republic is swirling down the drain of history's toilet and has been replaced by a banana republic under a lawless Trump administration.

While Trump is a despicable cretin by any sane standard, it is the 63,000,000 troglodytes who voted for him who bear the greater blame.
We must first outvote them, and then neutralize them by whatever means available.
They've done NOTHING to merit any consideration.
They are absolute vermin without exception.

Well, we did cut them off with sanctions. That may be true. We did not do it for no reason. America does like to mess in other countries' economies. we are sanctioning Cuba. Iran and Venezuela, North Korea and Sudan now.

I don't want the system that they have in Venezuela, but it is pretty ridiculous how Republicans always say that Venezuela was doing great until they became Socialist. The truth is Venezuela was doing great until America destroyed them with sanctions like they regularly do to "Socialist" countries.

It's equally ridiculous to say they were doing "great" under Chavez or Maduro.

The fact that many on the left claim it was so great shows their affinity for authoritarianism. As much as the left likes to call Trump authoritarian or fascist, none of Trump's actions have been as authoritarian as Chavez or Maduro.
