The Myth of TDS, 'Trump Derangement Syndrome', the Ultimate Thought-Terminating Cliché

That's my understanding as well. Most MAGAts never defined it and, by their behavior, they were clearly Trump Dick Suckers. Another example of their homoerotic inclinations.

MAGA isn't a person, Sybil. Redefinition fallacy. Mantra 1a. Lame.

Who could ONLY talk about Trump? The fact is Trump was always blackening the sky. He has had control over the Repub party through the last 4 years. Trump is a terrible person and a threat to what America was founded on. He is a publicity whore too. He did not go away, He kept talking to Fox and other right wing gnus. He was running for president for the last 4 years.
How is Trump a threat to the Constitution, Sybil? Be as specific as you like. Be prepared to reference the specific part of the Constitution violated.

You've been pushed into a corner.
What 'corner'??
You have been asked to do what NO HUMAN SHOULD EVER BE ASKED TO DO...
What, Twilight?
you've been asked to accept others who are different from you.
Who asked that, Twilight?
You are being asked to accept that gay people are allowed to live.
Sexual perversions isn't living. It's damnation.
You are being asked to let other people do things that don't impact you at all...WITHOUT YOUR EXPRESS APPROVAL.
Such sexual perversions affect all of society.
Unless it is MAGA folks,
MAGA isn't a person.
then you'll honor and praise them when they take a shit on the Speaker of the House's desk and try to overturn a free election. THAT"S Ok rioting and debauchery.
What election? DON'T BLAME DEMOCRAT PROBLEMS ON ANYBODY ELSE, SYBIL!
Good. Get out your guns now!
Already have 'em out. I was cleaning 'em the other day and usually carry.
We libs are probably fun to take a few potshots at once in a while...
No one is shooting you.
not to hurt us or nothin' just to keep us in our place. Make us dance around a little bit, with our floppy wrists and pussy hats.
No one is shooting you.
Because MIGHT MAKES RIGHT. America is going to be MIGHTY and that will make us RIGHTY RIght away.
No one is shooting you.

Rightys talk debauchery yet shut their eyes to Trump and Epstein banging teenage and younger girls for a decade or so. Trump cheated on his wives blatantly. That is OK because it was Trump. The right does not have the moral case. They say they do over and over, convincing themselves.
Stop making shit up. Mantra 30a. Lame.

^^^
More proof MAGAts like dictators and want a daddy to take care of them. Being a man-child is common among MAGAts.

1. "Feeling the need to 'out-man' the other men you are around."
two men fighting

2. "Everybody but the man-child in question will notice this: They never own up to their mistakes and constantly blame someone/something else for them."

3. "They talk at people without listening or a sense of empathy — and get quick to anger when called out."
a man talking to a woman

4. "They're usually the type of person 'who just tells it like it is' or is 'brutally honest.' Bonus points if they claim to be a 'logical thinker' while being the most emotional person in the room."

5. "They have extremely strict morals and principles when citing them will get them out of doing something. They will drop all morals and principles when ignoring them will get them out of doing something."

6. "Not taking out your garbage for weeks on end when you live in an apartment building, even when the weather gets REALLY hot and your trash stinks so badly that simply walking into the building is like being hit in the face with a decomposing corpse."

7. "When he refers to watching his own kids as babysitting or acts like it’s a favor."

8. "He breaks stuff and punches holes in walls over things, doesn’t even matter how big or small the trigger. The immediate signal he’s a man-child and incapable of regulating himself and his emotions. If a man is constantly showing aggressive behavior to the point of breaking things, or is someone who defends this behavior, yeah, I’d say both are massive red flags."

9. "Not learning how to perform basic domestic tasks like laundry, dishes, etc. If they make an active decision not to learn those things, it just tells me they want a mommy and not a partner."
dirty laundry on the floor

10. "Currently moving out of the apartment I share with my boyfriend because he is jealous of my dog (the one I had for years before we started dating). It started off with little things and has escalated to the dog needing to be in a cage 24/7 or I get the silent treatment. Good riddance, fucker."

11. "Lack of respect for people doing things for them, even when paid. Being short or rude to servers/staff, not saying thank you and please, etc. Thankfully, this is usually easy to spot on first dates."
a waiter bringing food to the table

12. "Their explosive emotions are valid (even when exaggerated) but yours are never and you're just dramatic."

13. "Putting other men down for liking books or video games while they obsess over sports, Fast and the Furious, and cars. Everyone has a hobby and we all have things we enjoy. Liking video games or books doesn’t make you any less of a man. Acting like watching sports makes you manly always seems like a projection to me. How is a guy sitting on his fat ass watching football games all weekend any better than another guy sitting on his ass reading books or playing video games all weekend? It’s the same damn thing."
a man reading a book

14. "Weaponized incompetence. Intentionally doing a piss poor job at whatever you’re asked to do just to ensure that you’re never asked to do it again."

15. "Constantly seeking the validation of multiple people that are the gender they're attracted to. Nothing screams insecurity like needing a bunch of people to fawn over you."
Mantra 1d. Lame.

That was a real stupid post. J6 was clearly, without a doubt an insurrection designed to stop the government in its tracks, giving Daffy Donald an opportunity to stay in power. Anyone who cannot see the dangers it presented cannot be seen as a serious person. You are Trumpy and a blind believer who will believe whatever Trump rewrites history as.
you're a stupid post, and a stupid person.

and evil in post and person as well.

It is TBS. Trump blowing syndrome. They sold their values and principles to a terrible person . Trump is stupid and childishly selfish. Nothing good can come from him.
LOL Agreed. Note how many MAGAts have sold their souls for money. They are all mammon-worshipers with most hiding behind a Christian mask.

The Myth of TDS, 'Trump Derangement Syndrome', the Ultimate Thought-Terminating Cliché

Let’s start with a bold declaration: the phrase "Trump Derangement Syndrome" -- TDS, as the lazy propagandists like to abbreviate it -- isn’t an argument. It’s not a diagnosis. It’s not even a clever piece of rhetoric. No, it’s a weaponized non-thought, a crutch for the intellectually bankrupt, designed to shut down discourse and delegitimize dissent. It’s a cheap parlor trick employed by those who lack the courage or the evidence to defend Donald Trump on his record, his rhetoric, or his relentless assault on democratic norms. Let’s dismantle this pernicious little construct, shall we?

The Origins of TDS: A Propaganda Playbook

The term "Trump Derangement Syndrome" did not emerge organically from the public square. It was born in the fever swamps of right-wing media and right wing think-tank boardrooms, a calculated response to growing criticism of Trump’s overwhelming unhinged behavior, policies, and ethics and horrible acts. It was designed not to describe a real psychological condition, but to delegitimize critics by branding them as irrational, hysterical, and emotionally compromised. It’s a derivative of an earlier term like "Bush Derangement Syndrome" (coined by Charles Krauthammer [RIP] in 2003) but with a sinister twist: it absolves Trump and his supporters of accountability by shifting the conversation to his critics and they use it practically daily as I don't recall BDS really catching on.

TDS is the ultimate exercise in projection. Trump’s most ardent defenders -- who themselves exhibit an almost cultish devotion to their leader—accuse others of being unhinged, not because there’s evidence to support the claim, but because it’s an effective way to dodge legitimate criticism. When confronted with Trump’s mountain of lies, corruption, and incompetence, they don’t engage on the merits. They don’t refute the facts. They cry “TDS!” and pretend the conversation is over.

TDS as a Thought-Terminating Cliché

And that is precisely what makes TDS so insidious: it is the textbook definition of a thought-terminating cliché. A term that, when invoked, is meant to foreclose critical thinking, derail meaningful discussion, and stifle debate. The phrase doesn’t encourage examination of Trump’s actions or policies; it dismisses criticism as irrational, unworthy of further consideration. "Why are you upset about the Muslim ban, the family separations, or the January 6th insurrection?" “Oh, you must have TDS.” Case closed. Oh, sure, the left has a few buzz words they toss about, but nothing as a thought-terminating cliche magnitude as that of TDS which is literally designed to curb critical thinking and kill the conversation/dissent, etc.

This is propaganda 101: if you can’t argue on substance, attack the person. If you can’t win the debate, delegitimize the debate itself. It’s a lazy shortcut for people unwilling to grapple with the catastrophic implications of their own beliefs. Come up with a powerful TTC and pass it onto your flock, your fellow Trump base believers & fans.

Debunking the Myth of TDS

Let’s be clear: the criticisms leveled at Trump are not the product of irrational hatred. It's okay to harber rational, justified, contempt, this is not blind hatred, but the right loves to parade the idea that it is irrational hatred, without cause or meaning or reason. No, the left's contempt for Trump based on evidence, facts, and observable reality. Consider just a few examples:

  1. Trump’s Lies: By the end of his presidency, Trump had told over 30,000 documented false or misleading claims, according to the Washington Post. Pointing this out isn’t deranged; it’s journalism.
  2. Corruption: Trump used the presidency to enrich himself and his family, from steering government business to his properties to monetizing foreign policy decisions. Criticizing this isn’t hysteria; it’s accountability.
  3. Authoritarian Tendencies: Trump’s disdain for democratic norms, from refusing to concede an election to inciting an insurrection, is unprecedented in modern American history. Calling this out isn’t irrational; it’s patriotic. The evidence is abundant.
Yet, when these criticisms are raised, they’re met with cries of “TDS,” as though pointing out the obvious were a sign of mental illness. It’s gaslighting on a national scale -- a way to invert reality and make the critic seem like the problem.

The Hypocrisy of the TDS Accusation

The irony, of course, is that the people who cry “TDS” are often the ones most deranged by Trump -- deranged not in opposition, but in their blind loyalty and 'see no evil, hear no evil' posture on the man -- they refuse to hear and see the evidence which is clearly before them, nor do they care. Hell, I recall a time when if a woman who wasn't a candidate's wife sat on his lap his candidacy was over. But with Trump? Nooooo, not this GOP, there is no amount of mortal turpitude that will sway them from their veritable 'dear leader' (recall the time, which happened more than once, during a meeting of important staff, where each leaned forward to praise Trump in a soviet styled appraisal in 'dear leader' fashion). These are the people who cheered when Trump said he could “shoot someone on Fifth Avenue” and not lose their support. The people who defended him after he bragged about sexual assault. The people who stormed the Capitol on his orders, believing his lies about a stolen election. If anyone suffers from a syndrome, it is this unthinking faction of Trump supporters who have sacrificed reason, morality, and patriotism at the altar of their leader, and that number is in the many millions. Trump is a master of one thing, mind manipulation of the gullible and 'low educated' --- no wonder he loves low educated, he came right out and admitted. Did anyone on the right stop, for just a moment, and ask why? Why hasn't any other right leaning candidate ever mentioned? Why? Because America has never experienced a demagogue on the scale that Trump is. And if you do not know what a demagogue is, look it up. Trump is a classic text book example. All demagogues succeed in reducing their flock to a bucket of thought-terminating cliches, because they can't have indoctrinated believes questioning the leader, thinking critically, now can they?

The Real Danger of TDS

But TDS isn’t just a rhetorical device -- it’s a tool of erosion. It erodes accountability by insulating Trump from legitimate criticism. It erodes debate by shutting down conversation. And most dangerously, it erodes reality itself, replacing facts with a narrative where Trump is the victim and anyone who opposes him is a lunatic.

This is how democracies die -- not with tanks in the streets, but with the slow, insidious normalization of propaganda and the delegitimization of dissent. TDS is not just a lie; it’s a weapon in the larger war on truth. Remember, Trump is the guy who shouted, at just about every rally, that the free press is 'the enemy of the peop[e', that way, anything critical printed of Trump, they will associate the press with the enemy. THe sad truth is, a flourishing, vigorous press, far more than men with guns, is that very thing standing between the liberty of our citizens and tyranny. Without a free press, critical or otherwise, democracy dies,

Conclusion: Rejecting the Cliché

So the next time someone cries “TDS,” call it what it is: a myth, a fraud, and a cowardly escape from serious debate. Point out that the criticisms of Trump are rooted in evidence, not emotion. Demand accountability, not cheap slogans. And above all, refuse to let this thought-terminating cliché silence the truths that need to be told.

Because if we let "TDS" go unchallenged, we’re not just letting Trump off the hook -- we’re letting democracy itself slip away. And that, my friends, is the real derangement.
You can whine all you want but for nine years all we have heard from you barking moonbats is, Trump, Trump, Trump. If that isn't a serious mental illness, I don't know what is. and those malcontents giving you a "like" to your rant, are prime examples.
