THE MYTH OF VOTER FRAUD

your hatred for me has caused you to go insane. seek help.

Voter ID laws are a solution in search of a problem....

zappa claims this post actually means that \\\dunegion/// believes there is voter ID fraud....however, to any rational and sane person, it reads that there is NO problem, as \\\dunegion/// claims that "ID laws are a solution in search of a problem.

The barriers erected in Texas and Wisconsin go beyond what the Supreme Court upheld in Indiana, where 99 percent of state voters possess the requisite IDs and can turn to full-time DMVs in every county to obtain the proper documentation.

By contrast, roughly half of all black and Hispanic residents in Wisconsin do not have a driver's license, and the state staffs barely half as many DMVs as Indiana – a quarter of which are open less than one day a month.

To make matters worse, Gov. Scott Walker tried to shut down 16 more DMVs – many of them located in Democratic-leaning areas.

In one case, Walker planned to close a DMV in Fort Atkinson, a liberal stronghold, while opening a new office 30 minutes away in the conservative district of Watertown.

One of the most restrictive laws requiring voter IDs was passed in South Carolina.

To obtain the free state ID now required to vote, the 178,000 South Carolinians who currently lack one must pay for a passport or a birth certificate.

Under the new law, many elderly black residents – who were born at home in the segregated South and never had a birth certificate – must now go to family court to prove their identity.

Given that obtaining fake birth certificates is one of the country's biggest sources of fraud, the new law may actually prompt some voters to illegally procure a birth certificate in order to legally vote – all in the name of combating voter fraud.

The issue is whether voter impersonation, the only type of electoral fraud that voter ID laws can prevent, actually exist. And it does, albeit extraordinarily rarely. The trouble is that there are other more effective ways to steal elections than actually getting people to show up at the polling place pretending to be someone they aren't.

None of these neocon blowhards gave a damn about all the people disenfranchised in the 2000 and 2004 elections, yet they squawk in unison with the faux hysteria of "voter fraud" the teabag/neocon foghorn. Pathetic, but hardly unexpected.

I find it hillarious nd sad dems will go so low in the gutter for votes, we'll start to here illegals aren't a real problem as they court that vote as well. Spare me the $10 I'd is a burden, do you not plan on forcing the medical insurance on the poor?

But why would you? If you want to steal an election, voter impersonation isn't a very good way to go about it.

Not only would he need to know what precinct you were regisitered in, but your complete home address as well.
Then, if turned out you had already voted, he would be arrested for voter fraud, subject to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
If you hadn't voted before the impersonater but showed up afterwards, the inpersonater's ballot would be destroyed anyway.

Seems like a pretty stupid way to try to alter an election, with a very low likelyhood of success and very high chances of prison.

I'm sorry that dog ain't gonna hunt. I'm saying it's bad strategy for democrats to shit on what mainstream America wants by overly playing to the ignorant poor!

Where is the evidence that voter impersonation is an issue?

They're pointing out the very few incidences that do occur and doing the usual hype and distortion bullhorn....and the willful neocon parrots just squawk what they are told without using the cognitive reasoning skills that God gave them.
