The new MAGA? Make America....

Thanks. The title alone says it all. I'll bookmark this for future discussions of this type.

"It’s time to unmask the Trump tariffs for what they really are: A giant national sales tax that will hobble U.S. economic growth"

They are correct. Tariffs are a tax, a regressive tax that hurts lower income families/individuals more than wealthy ones. Low- and middle-class consumers are the engine that drives our economy. When you institute measures that curtail spending, you harm the economy. You don't need to have taken a college level Econ 101 class to understand this. You merely have to stop swilling Reichwing media and lapping up the Grifter-in-Chief's droppings.

They''ve been interviewing local shop owners and small business owners on our local news the last few months. They are worried about the tariffs and how they can afford to maintain their products w/o raising prices and driving customers away. We recently bought a large outbuilding and paid ~$15K for it. The owner said we were wise to get it now because the materials cost is really going up -- the lumber (from Canada), the steel (also Canada), the vinyl siding, etc.

I thought Republikkkans were all about supporting and helping small businesses? They're actually fucking them over.

The old MAGA blame game.

One of the few things you people are any good at.
Blame game, you fucking moron? Governor Greasy Hair literally destroyed the economy of his state.
I beg you, put that record up on the stage with the other democrat hopefuls, they will evicerate him.

Big time

Oh there will be companies that will build factories in the US to produce things here but you can bet they will invest in a lot of automation and AI and only hire as few people as they can.

Yep. What a lot of our MAGATy derps don't seem to realize is that American manufacturing/production is as strong as it ever was. We just do it now with automation rather than human-staffed assembly lines. Any company plannning to open a factory here is going to weigh the costs of infrastructure, robotics, finding skilled labor to "supervise" the robots, and whether the final cost of their finished products will be economically viable. For now, it is far cheaper to make a pair of jeans or sneakers overseas than it is here.
