The People's Seat...

The House and Senate have different rules. Ask Roland Burris and Al Franken.
Again, unanimous consent has happened many, many times. Even for silly things like saying that McCain is a citizen. (As well as important stuff like certification.)

A very effective campaign.

Congratulations to Scott Brown (R) for overcoming overwhelming odds to win a Seat in the Senate.

From 30 points back to 5 on the positive in under two months! Now to see if they'll try to hold him back from taking his seat after a clear victory...

Hold him back as long as possible.

It's Kennedy's seat.

Unanimous consent to waive the certification requirement can happen again for Brown, it just isn't very likely as I said a while ago.

I can't imagine Al Franken agreeing to unanimous consent to seat Brown without certification when he wasn't afforded the courtesy.

He wasn't afforded the courtesy because the seat was contested. That is not a barrier here. Seriously, if it is brought up at all, it will make the Democrat's Party look like children throwing a fit if they reject it out of hand, and more specifically anybody who speaks up.

He wasn't afforded the courtesy because the Republicans are dicks. It was clear after the recount that he won, but the Republicans dragged it out until all appeals were exhausted. If I were Franken I'd object to seating Brown.

And set yourself up for more "baby" jokes using the stupid picture from SNL, associating the rest of your party with childlike "revenge" exacted for no realistic reason.

And you fault Coleman for doing what so many fault Gore for not doing. The reality is that the seat was contested, this one isn't. The barrier is non-existent and the Democrats will look like children throwing fits if they reacted that way.

Of course 15 days is fine. But if they hold out for too long they'll lose even more seats. People are sick of this type of BS.

Yes, I'm sure Franken gives a shit about Republicans using photoshopped images of him. He's safe for another 5 years.

I don't fault Coleman all that much. I fault the Republicans for not agreeing to seat Franken.

Edit to respond to yours: I expect that Brown will be seated the first day the Senate is in session following the 15 days.

If you're talking about this picture:

It's a fake. Franken's face is shopped onto the body.

Franken contested the win first due to the margin of error, idgit. He finally won with the help of ballots showing up in trunks of cars all of a sudden like.

so the repubs should have laid down when franken contested? are you really this big of a hack?

Once the state canvassing board certified the results Franken should have been seated. Certification is the key. My position is 100% consistent.

No it isn't! This is a completely different set of circumstances. This was a special election; Frankens a general election. Franken contested the results due to the number of votes being so close. Brown won with what looks to be a 7 point lead! The rules with regards to special elections are different.

Elections are governed by state law and the Florida Supreme Court order should have been followed.

Bush v. Gore is a fatally flawed opinion, but Gore would have lost under the recount procedures set forth by the Florida Supreme Court in any event. However, had Florida law provided the robust recount procedures afforded under Minnesota law, Bush would never have been president.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You have less of an idea of what I am talking about. Just stop.
