We are already up to 3.80 here. It's because you live in a backwoods place where no one really wants to go, so this is one of the benefits you get. You could move to Alabama and pay 2.50. It's kind of a gift with sad purchase thing.
 
One of the bigger drivers is the method of state taxation. Some states tax based on a percentage of the price per gallon while others tax at a fixed cents per gallon rate. For the former, when the price per gallon increases, taxes likewise increase.

yeah, which is why tourism is so weak for Colorado. By the way... didn't New York lose seats in the House? Is that due to people not wanting to live there any more?

Spoken by somebody who has never been to Denver. It's awesome here and the skiing is far better than anything I ever experienced on the left coast. ;)

1) Demand is dropping
2) $200 is not economically viable. We saw the demand destruction that took place when it hit $148.

Be fair, they have wonderful little hills filled with ice that they 'ski' on. As long as they are left unaware of what real skiing is like, it is a winter paradise for them. It is only the poor NY fool that has discovered Colorado or Utah skiing that knows the truth. Plus, they have all those wonderful wide open spaces to play in, plus they get to climb all those wonderful buildings. Whereas all we have are those pathetic Rocky Mountains to play in.
 
I was in Vermont this weekend and I had such a great time. You both are so goofy in your views of the East Coast. If you guys ever come here I will show you around in NYC, if either of you aren't too scared to leave the Wall St area, (I carry pepper spray and you don't have to worry I'll protect you!) and you'll have a great time. I do want to go to Colorado though, I was just messing with you guys. I know it's beautiful.

LOL. I've actually been there back in the day and skied on those wonderful hills y'all try to call mountains over in Vermont... And the skiing here really is that much better. Believe me if I get to NYC I'll be contacting you. Nothing better than a native to help you get around...

Be warned. I will try hard to look like a tourist from a backwoods that doesn't know what a tall building looks like so I can embarrass you. Maybe I'll even fake an accent.

My daughter tried to "ditch" school one day. I took her to school the next day, dressing up as redneck as I could with mismatching clothes, speaking as redneck as I know how, I sat through her classes. She's never done it again. I'm a pretty good actor when I can be amused by it. We still laugh about it sometimes.

Actually, it is worldwide demand that is down due to the economic problems in Europe, China and the US.

As for you being at the pump... yeah, I can see that as a poetically justified retirement job for you. After you oil stocks collapse. ;)

You are my hero.
I've used the same threat on my kids and my grandkids.

I showed them the big straw hat, the pink polk-a-dot shirt, the overalls, and the coke bottle glasses that I would be using.

Told them that I would introduce myself to EVERYONE as their Father and now, the Grandfather.
