My friend posted this with the caption "I am proud to live in a community that honors it's fallen heros".

The video is a little long, but well worth the time. Have box of kleenex handy. It looks like most of the town came out to honor this young man.

And if you disapprove of the war, military funerals, alabamians, or whatever, I would prefer you keep it to yourself.

Honor those who have fallen.

Thank you for posting this.
Our oldest daughter lives in Missouri and she is part of the color guard for returning fallen vets.

I thought it was an amazing video. So many people taking time out to say gooodbye to a fallen hero.

Thank you~

The Color Guard play an important role that many unfamiliar with the military may never understand. The dignity and respect due those who have fought and died is epitomized in their carefully constructed formations and drills.

May all the families of our fallen heroes find some comfort in their loved ones being so honored.

And thank you for recognizing the importance of the procession.

When I watched it last night it solved the problem of what I was going to do with the last part of the box of tissues. Those ceremonies always get to me.

Yeah... well I should have watched it prior to putting on my mascara. They get to us because they highlight the sacrifice in all of its sadness and loss.

Very true!

I think being a parent also helps us understand the devastating loss someone suffered.

That's it exactly. While I was watching I was moved by the careful and dignified procession- But when the family walked out onto the tarmac I realized my own vulnerability to their grief. Death is the enemy. May we all be mindful of our frailty.
