The psychology of the Trumppers!

I agree with all of that, but I can't imagine why they'd feel threatened now that they've successfully overthrown the democratic republic version of America. The Constitution didn't give us adequate means to fend them off, and they've got it working for them now.
Their feelings are not based on fact, but emotion. Their persona is calculated toward appeasing the bully, to try to ensure the bully protects them and does not turn on them. Its old way. They feel powerless and only trust the perception of strength.

Hello Jarod,
When the PP reverses, they jump in line. It's not about policy, it's about his bully personality, they love that kind of power. They hate rule of law, they prefer rule of preceded power.

Could anyone imagine Obama, Biden or Harris being a bully? They see that as weak, so they hate them. Its an entire old world/new world argument.

The very idea of America was moving from power by bullying toward power of Unity and Rule of Law, rule of the common man. That idea is threatened now, we have a group desperate for the old world ways.
MAGA would have been loyalists in 1776.

They've accomplished an awful lot for powerless people.
Gotten a fascist supreme court.
Gotten gerrymandered congressional districts.
Destroyed the Voting Rights Act.
Destroyed Roe v. Wade
Destroyed Medicaid.
Destroyed all restraining regulations on the corporate oligarchy.
Radically weakened our NATO relationship.
Basically destroyed the practice of affording asylum.
Preserved the shooting gallery image of America.
Preserved anti-worker Right To Work laws.

I could go on indefinitely with this litany. What the hell can they be discouraged about?

Hello Jarod,

MAGA would have been loyalists in 1776.
I doubt it. I would have been a loyalist in 1776, and nobody is more different from MAGA than I. It was the wealthy land owners who sought independence. And now, the UK and British Commonwealth nations are FAR MORE PROGRESSIVE AND LIBERAL than we are.

It’s basically a fear response, to identify with the bully, due to insecurity and or fear of being bullied.

Flatter the bully because something in your childhood made the idea of being bullied intolerable.

Likely you had a bully as a parent.
Comply with whomever you see as the most powerful without regard to what is morally right

Children who were taught to obey with the power system no matter how immoral it is

Dont question power

The powerful are allowed to do ANYTHING to you

So don’t fight

Grovel

Those who were allowed to think and question in search of a moral code that made the world a better place

Don’t make things better

Do as your told and shut your brain down if it feels icky to do as your told

Virtue signaling is evil according to Republicans

Examine that phrase

Virtues are morals huh

Signaling is expressing

They hate morality

It destroys their march towards complete power

They don’t want humans using their morals and expressing them openly

That their clown makeup is dripping off their fascist faces and the people are getting WOKE to the old repeated game the evil assholes are perpetrating

They can cause damage but they can’t win

They know how to destroy

Their ideas always destroy them too

Then the morally superior fully functioning humans fix it again

And we build it better and more capable of weeding out their fucking asses from the gaming the next go round

Um no

Go read some more about those loyalists

That is assuming logic is the basis for political positions. If it were, the right would hardly exist. MAGA would not.

Can't argue with those assumptions, but I like to think that my political positions are based on logic as it applies to my and my family's best interests and to a general belief in fairness.

That's understandable but in addition there must be at least some concern for the nation in general. If nobody cares about the nation, and everyone just leaves it to the powers to be, then freedom is lost.

American democracy is dependent upon the active engagement of a well educated populace. We don't have that, which is why our democracy is failing.

We have allowed the true artificers of monarchy to elevate a man unprincipled in private life, greedily desperate in his own fortune, seeking of unending public attention, bold in his temper, possessed of considerable con man talents of fast talking bullshit, despotic in his ordinary demeanor, known to have scoffed at the principles of liberty to mount the hobby horse of popularity, join in the false cry of danger to liberty (of racists) to take every opportunity to embarrass the general government and bring it under suspicion, to flatter and fall in with the nonsense zealots of the day with the rather obvious object to throw things into confusion that he may ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.

Agree with much of that, but I don't like the monarchy reference as being relevant. Countries far more progressive than we have monarchs who are ceremonial heads of state and don't run their respective governments. Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and others have monarchs, and every one of those nations is more liberal and progressive than the US.
