The religion of Love shows its true colors

In light of the recent threads condemning an entire religion for the acts of a very few, here are a couple of reminders of why Christians shouldn't cast the first stone.

Are all Christians responsible for these lunatics??

Does this illustrate the unconditional love of Christians?

I have yet to meet anybody with unconditional love.

That being said you can't vet a religion for idiots. There's no way to kick people out of a religion, no way for the Catholics to claim the IRA isn't christian or the moderate Imams to stop terrorists from claiming to be muslim.

Try not to judge everyone and don't knock on my door and convince me that jesus loves everyone, I will not take it well.

This thread is aimed at the threads popping up accusing the "religion of peace" of various crimes, such as blaming it for an honor killing and blaming all of Islam for a gangrape.

Catholics and Muslims regularly excommunicate or expel those they consider unworthy or heretics. Many others do much the same through shunning, banishing, shaming and anyway else they choose to disallow further participation in worship services, even murder. My experience is that religious people are generally the most hateful and dangerous people on the planet. Religion itself reveals a faulty and weak world understanding and sense of oneself.

Excommunication didn't stop Luther or any of the Christian Reformists, there is very little/no way to keep people from claiming religion in their act. The most a religion can really do is split off into another sect and most people won't be able to tell the difference even in large separation. Think about it, do you really know the doctrinal difference between Sunni and Shea?

Pardon me, disso, but you said "There's no way to kick people out of a religion". That is patently false for many reasons. Did Martin Luther ever return to a Catholic Church? I think not so he formed his own OTHER religion from which most protestants derive. Catholics like to drink and dance. They'll never make it in a Southern Baptist environment!!!!!!!

The baptists don't dance or drink, but they get to have sex. Sounds to me like the catholics lost. lol

Well that's true but they never have sex standing up lest some nosey ass might think they're dancing. You knew that was coming, didn't you?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yeah, I almost went there myself. That is one of the two oldest baptist jokes. The other is "Whereever you find 4 baptists you'll usually find a fifth".

You're so right and back when I was affiliated with them I was usually the one that brought the fifth and a case, too!!!!!!!!

When I was a wee little kid I remember my Dad saying "Know the difference between a baptist and a methodist? A methodist will speak to you in the liquor store.". I was small enough that I didn't understand the joke.

Well, I know the doctrinal and political origin of the split. Over the course of time, I don't know how the separation has evolved into different cultural and religious practices from the ground up, the way I somewhat do with Catholicism vs. Eastern Orthodoxy...
