It doesn’t really matter why they made the decision, what matters is that the federal government threatened them.
Not much of a threat... Again, that "threat" left choices to the company, the company chose to salt the ground. There was nothing in that "threat" demanding he be taken off the air.

This was by no means the first time they correctly informed the audience of the reality about FCC policies and rightly says they are looking into ways to prevent or stop the purposeful, intentional, boldfaced lies with political implications and potentially inciting violence, etc. NOTHING NEW AT ALL. ABC, CBS, He/She/Them/It are fully aware of the FCC's position and have been for years.
I laid out reality, you know, the numbers that drive the price the networks can charge and the fact that many TV stations informed the network that they would no longer air his show. ABC already knows about the FCC, but losing more money on a show that has only declined in the last decade was the only move that allows shareholders to hold on the dream that leadership is not completely insane.
