at 18% and the gas lines.

It did start under the Trump administration- and it wasn't his fault! Paper products, food, and the price for shipping them, airline fares, delivery fees, restaurant food, hotel fares, basically everything,went up ridiculously, as far back as January 2020. Before the year was up everything went sky high- even before Biden even won the primary.

Every economy chart, known to man, shows the upward trajectory of inflation starting in early 2020 and it goes right along with how the number of VIRUS CASES skyrocketed at the same time.

It is hard to argue that point, so I will not even try. Yes, I have seen the signs in all the windows of places that pay minimum wages, like Retail stores and fast food Restaurants, and I also see a lot of ads in other better paying trades looking for people.

So, people are personally taking the time to a look for better-paying jobs, and moving on up the Career/Employment/Income scale - and that is causing problems for the lower wage job market. And this explains a lot of the help-wanted signs you are seeing in the fast food restaurants and retail store environments.

This is how capitalism works. THE PRICE HAS TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE COST OF LABOR, OF COURSE- BUT THE WORKER'S HAVE TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THEIR COST OF LIVING AS WELL! IT IS NOT A ONE WAY STREET.

BUSINESSES HAVE COST INCREASES THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH- AND WORKERS HAVE PRICE INCREASES, AS WELL, AND THEY HAVE TO HAVE MORE MONEY TO MEET THEM, as well!

I PERSONALLY HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAVE ACTUALLY changed jobs and careers after returning back to work after the pandemic, and have increased their income by accepting a better newer position elsewhere in a different more promising field of work.

There are help wanted signs at damn near every business around here. One warehouse is advertising over $31 an hr. for order pickers and a $5000 bonus if they stay for over 90 days (full benefits after 30 days) and they can't find help. Amusement parks can't find ride operators, they are hiring 16 yr. olds now and many rides remain shut down. These are jobs that require little intelligence, even liberals could perform them...

Several things are combining to drive prices so high right now.

1. Simple inflation. The Fed is printing too much money. There is no corresponding increase in wealth. This cases inflation. It also eventually leads to a cash crash.
2. Shipping shortages. This is a complex issue, but it centers around the covid19 scare. Ports in the States are running on skeleton crews right now. There are not enough longshoremen to unload the ships. This causes ships to stack out at sea for 2-4 weeks for their turn at port. It takes less time to cross the pacific.

Further, there is an acute shortage of shipping containers, due to the largest port in China being closed due to covid19 fears. Those ships can't sail, and all the containers on board them are currently out of service.

Thus, truckers simply don't have enough cargo to truck around. Truckers too are waiting for the ports to begin functioning normally. The resulting shortages are also driving prices higher, particularly for sheet lumber products and TEL based fuel such as aviation fuel.

3. Biden himself has cut back many sources of oil supplies. This drives up the price of oil products, including gasoline and diesel oil. Since these two fuels are required in most cars, in trucks, and in aircraft, shipping costs for anything, even domestically, is correspondingly higher. This cascades into increasing costs for everything else. A sheet of plywood can cost $140 EACH right now.

Jimmy Carter tried price controls on fuel. The result was predictable. Stations weren't going to sell their fuel for less than they paid for it, so they stopped selling fuel, claiming 'no fuel'. I believe you remember the long gas lines. Fascism like price controls never work. They always cause shortages. It doesn't matter if it's price controls on fuel, price controls on apartments, or price controls on wages.
