The secret to Trump's success

so you still don't get motivational speech with aspirational goals

I get that. I don't understand why a leader would say they have a virus contained and that 15 cases would be going down to zero when the intel he has internally completely contradicts that.

I don't understand the rationalizations of Trump supporters, at all.

I don't care how invested I am in a leader - for partisan reasons, or because I think their policies are awesome. I don't try to make excuses for lying. I didn't with Clinton or Obama (who both lied quite a bit less, btw). No politicians ever tell the truth all of the time, but we should call them on it when they don't.

no you dont get it. you prefer to say Trumps language is often inexact .Do you think we don't know this?
Fake News makes a living off his malaprops, He's also a NY accent -horrible to listen to. he's got orange skin
(redhead in sunlight)

But he invariable makes the right call, like the shutdown, China -not Russia is a malign nation etc.
He stopped the cararvas -so why should I care about his speech compared to alll that?

I don't want to get into how he has mishandled this crisis. I can accept that his policies appealed to many prior to it happening.

But look at history, when masses of people were willing to accept any speech or behavior from their leader, because the policies were working (particularly economic policy).

It's ridiculously simple, but credit where it's due - it's also pretty genius in its simplicity & effectiveness. It's a 2 step program:

1) Blame everyone else for anything negative
2) Take credit for anything positive

It only works if you present it with 100% belief and confidence. And I have come to think that Trump truly believes what he says. It's not conscious deception with him. He convinces himself first.

I was thinking this when hearing that they might be developing a vaccine in Oxford, that they're fast-tracking and hoping to have ready by September. If that ends up being "the cure," I have zero doubt whatsoever that Trump will claim credit for it.

You left out # 3. Stupid, gullible and willfully ignorant people

#4 exploit and enhance moderate antipathy over issues by pouring 1000 gallons of gas on the opposition, lighting a match and laughing with glee to the joy of the Milgram experimental group (those without brains).

Wow...is that really how Trump supporters think? That he's "largely right"?

How can you tell? On most things, he changes his mind every day, and contradicts himself on a regular basis.

Well, the economy was largely good, we should largely divest from China, Russia looks largely more irrelevant every day, so yeah, Trump turned out largely right about a lot of things.

How come nobody talks about Russia any more, btw?

Im not sure its a secret. Or maybe its one of those so simple its hard to do secrets. Every great leader did it.

Take Lincoln for example. He appointed 5 or so generals like Mclellan that promptly decided to get themselves whipped by Lee. Did Lincoln say "Im sorry guys I messed up 5 times but dont worry 6th times the charm!" No. If he did that the Union would have collapsed. Instead he labeled Mclellan indecisive and the others various thinks and eventually appointed Grant. He was nowhere near Gettysburg as well but took credit for that so he could do the emancipation proclamation.

Did Churchhill say "I suck as a leader so the Germans are about the invade?" No if he did that he would have been thrown out and his replacement would have negotiated a surrender. Instead he just focused the people on how evil the Germans are, how right they are, and to look forward.

We need leaders who can instill positivity into us. Especially in these times. I cant imagine having Cuomo there or someone from CNN saying 10000 died today we expect 20000 more to die tomorrow and 1 million to die by the end of this. Also you cant leave your house till next year. The country would collapse as people descend into hopelessness.

Thank you for your service President Trump.

You have to realize; you're normal. The leftist loons on this forum are mentally retarded. That's why you get it and they don't.

Mussolini claimed that he kept the trains running on time (even though the Italian railway was in utter disrepair). Trump uses the same tactics. Bottom line, the reality isn't really that important. You just have to control the narrative, and Trump has successfully done that with his cult base. At the end of the day, Trump's wall is no more effective than Mussolini's train system.

Trump’s secret is simple:

He’s largely right on the issues [who is going to be touting open borders after this; bring jobs back from China after this; recognizing China is the threat and not Russia; how to create a banging economy etc] and enough people saw that in 2016 that he won an election.

Typically, Trump voters don’t care about much else.. Why should anyone? Could never figure that out.
