The simple test for any trump "peace plan"

Russia invaded Ukraine, in violation of the Budapest Memorandum, and so accuses everyone else of doing it.
Russia invaded Ukraine and used the supposed violation as justification.

This isn't kindergarten. The first one to break the contract is in the wrong, the second is not in the wrong because the contract is already null.

Russia invaded Ukraine and used the supposed violation as justification.
Russia invaded Ukraine, which was a violation. Russia promised to absolutely respect the borders of Ukraine, and now has invaded those borders, and demanding to keep them.

There is clearly no way Russia can be trusted. The only way to defend Ukraine is to have it get NATO membership.

The first one to break the contract is in the wrong
And that would be Russia, by invading. The earlier attacks by Russia were more borderline. They did try to assassinate a leader of Ukraine.

No such thing as an absolute guarantee.
