Per the Constitution, the President is required to address the Congress, but it doesn’t specify anything as a State of the Union, in fact, back in the day, the President did it in written form

The SOTU speech was not what the constitution calls for.... "From time to time" does not mean "some time in January or February every year", and it doesn't require a speech, just a notice. It can literally be a letter.

The right today is beating their chest about how Trump "set a trap" for Democrats and they fell right into it.

Like, really? Is that what we're after here? Reminds me of all of their giddiness when Trump "trolls" the country, as though expert trolling is what we want out of a world leader.

That "trap" didn't have the impact trump thought it would. Fox was trying to run with it yesterday - it's a dead story.

This is the only number Republicans should be worried about right now - and they should be worried!

Which it was, written, prior to Wilson, FDR was the first to go media with the radio, which probably made sense given the war, but it wasn’t Prime time TV till LBJ. Since then it has progressively become more theater than informative
