I know the syndrome as the Patty Hearst Syndrome. More interesting than the fact that it occurred is the politics being applied to it.
My question would be how the holier-than-thou RW would handle it if the Patty Hearst situation had occurred today. Hearst, heiress to a truly elite journalism(W.R. Hearst) fortune, not only became romantically involved with her captors, the Symbionese Liberation Army, but also willingly joined them in their terrorist activities. It would be interesting to see how our friends from the right would have twisted that one since the "elite" in this case was one of theirs. Just curious.
