These are just the political dissidents. There are an estimated 100 million more who have died as the result of disease, famine, and lack of medical care, from their socialist regimes. Let's try an analogy. Recall the time when you lived alone. You did what you wanted to do. You opened the fridge and ate what you wanted. There was no other person to consider. That's basically what the country was like when it was founded.

Now, assuming you have a family, you can't eat half the food planned for dinner or put on the stereo in the living room if someone is watching TV. You have to consider others. That is the country today. That is the world today.

A world government to oversee where the resources can be used to the best advantage. Co-operation rather than competition. If countries are shown/given/loaned the means to produce food and housing fewer jobs would be required. For example, third world countries. Some natural resources channelled in their direction to allow them to build factories that produce manufactured homes. Machinery to work the land. If they could produce enough food to eat, like we do here, a lot of people wouldn't need a job in order to eat or the jobs could be shared. A sort of communal farm, so to say.

The goal is for people to work or do a job that produces benefits as opposed to just being a way to make money. Technologically speaking, everyone does not have to work. Everyone does not need a job.

So.... probably what WILL happen is, the SCOTUS will strike down the heart of the law, rendering it a Tinkerbell Fairy... fluttering off into Never-never land forever. We've witnessed a large majority of the population not working in the 50s and 60s when mothers stayed home. While mothering was/is a full time job it didn't/doesn't involve washing clothes by hand, gathering firewood to cook dinner, etc. In fact, the job became less demanding to the point where women took jobs outside the home.

We always hear about both parents having to work but is it really necessary? Does one require a $40,000 car every 3 or 4 years? A TV in every room? How many people actually wear out their clothes?

There is no need for everyone to work. The point of progress is to lessen our burden. Of course, we have to ensure others have the necessities of life.

I pay the government's salary, they work for me, I am part of the people. In essence, the government is me as well, they are paid my me to represent me, and do what I want them to do. When there were plenty of jobs and relative job security no one desired nor required government intervention. That has changed. There are hard-working, intelligent people unemployed due to no fault of their own. They realize, with medical care usually associated with ones job, they could find themselves without coverage and one misfortune could wipe out a lifetime of work.

It's the same with the UI extension. I'm sure it helped some people avoid bankruptcy and prevented them from ending up on the street. They've realized government intervention is a good thing in this changing world. A good education and a good work ethic no longer guarantee a good job. Owning a home no longer is a guaranteed investment as many found out a few years ago. I'm sure many are also realizing interest from investments are no guarantee either considering the low interest rate today.

Whether one believes it's a world wide conspiracy to drive people into poverty and into the hands of government or it's just the way life has unfolded the more "sure things" that people realize are not sure things the more they will want reassurance, a back-up plan, and that's where government enters the picture. Privatizing SS is pretty much a dead topic now after the near financial meltdown. As people lost 25% or 50% or their investments and due to low returns had to draw on the capital that little SS check started to look better and better. And things are going to get worse. Well, not really worse, just different. Governments will play a larger roll.

Well, I highly doubt this, since a majority of democrats didn't vote for a single payer system when they had momentum. Now that almost the entire county has turned against ObamaCare, I just don't see a single payer system in the cards, Apple.
