It is what happened. And I do not begrudge Musk for having it happen. Inheritance is nothing to be ashamed of. I do question why all the lying.
In a sense Soros' family gave him something bigger. They funneled almost everything they had into saving his life. That usually would not be impressive, but Soros lived in a time that the country occupying his country was actively trying to exterminate him.
His family realized things were bad, and did everything they could to save as much of the family as possible. There were other families who did not realize how bad it was.
That is correct. Musk went from a safe upper middle class background, to extremely fabulous wealth. Soros went from one of the worst genocides in history targeting him, to a little less extremely fabulous wealth. It is hard to compare the miracle Soros even surviving.

No, I am pointing out that Soros had a tougher background than Musk. Musk was upper middle class, or maybe a bit better. Soros was beyond just poverty, he was the victim of genocide. These are not comparable backgrounds.

Just inherited the proceeds of an emerald mine would not be a big deal, so why is Musk lying about it? 1980's Zambian emerald mines were a mixed affair. Many were well run, and contributed to the economy of Zambia. Others were hellholes with chained slaves doing the mining. Maybe Musk is trying to hide a dark origin for his tuition money.
