The Jews were in Judea, and they are in Israel. Who cares if they were in Egypt or not.
Modern international law puts a lot of weight behind where people are now, and if they have been there for a generation or two. Almost no one wants to redraw century old borders and force millions to move. Israelis have been where they are for 80+ years.
Now there is a separate argument about what happened 3,000+ years ago, which I find fascinating.
It appears that Egypt occupied Canaan towards the end of the Bronze Age. During the Bronze Age Collapse, their outposts in Israel were surrounded by Israelis, and finally retreated. So rather than escaping Egypt, the Israelis moved around Israel's countryside, and Egypt retreated. Those stories were transmitted to Judah(Judea) when Israel collapsed.
That being said, Judah/Judea has been there for a long time. It appears to even describe the people in the countryside during the Canaanite Period. It was not as sophisticated as the Canaanites, or the Israelis, but in the end the Jews survived and became the most sophisticated.
