Donald Trump could face a major international embarrassment in the coming weeks over his war against Iran.

The 79-year-old president sought to cast himself as a peacemaker on Sunday, announcing a “humanitarian gesture” to "help guide stranded ships out of the Strait of Hormuz", the key waterway the U.S. has blockaded.

Trump described the conflict as a “Middle Eastern dispute” and said the operation—dubbed “Project Freedom”—would “free up people, companies, and countries that have done absolutely nothing wrong,” calling them “victims of circumstance.” He added the effort would show “goodwill” after months of fighting.

Trump made a public bet with his decision, which could end in humiliation in full view of the world for the embattled president.

This is no longer just about Iran, it is about avoiding a visible loss of global control, with U.S. loss of authority.
 

Allies threaten revenge after Trump’s Truth Social explosion​



The European Union is calling President Donald Trump’s bluff on his threats of further tariffs amid his continuing—and growing—meltdown over allies refusing to back his war in the Middle East.

“The number one choice is always dialogue,” Kyriakos Pierrakakis, president of Eurogroup, a body made up of the EU’s various finance ministers, told Bloomberg Television on Monday. “We want a predictable partner in the international economy.”

Trump fumed in a Truth Social post that he’d be hiking tariffs on EU-made cars and trucks to 25 percent because the bloc “is not complying.”

Pierrakakis, who also serves as Greece’s Minister of Economy and Finance, conceded that things have not progressed at the pace Trump might have liked, but denied the president’s claims that the bloc is somehow in violation of terms.

“Our side of the bargain has been fully met, has been fully kept with regards to the joint statement commitment and the legislative timetable which we had,” he told Bloomberg.

I restate my suspicion that you are not Iranian....Iran was caught by surprise empire attacks twice after American lies, and the Iranian people are not stupid, they would not believe anything Trump or his moronic war sec say.
