APP - The Worst President in our History

For those who have read, 'The Making of Donald Trump' nothing should surprise. But this piece in the Guardian confirms other aspects of a man who became president but is still a child. And where to now Mike Pence, did you sell your soul or did you always lack one?

"It was not just May who found Trump unsettling: to European diplomatic observers, he seemed a “strange creature”. And he also triggered alarm among some American officials in the room with him, with one defence official noting that the president’s notoriously short attention span suggested a “squirrel careening through the traffic”."

And what now of Mike Pence, who sold his soul?

That was an excellent read; thanks for posting it. Op-eds from other countries on American politics are often better than our home-grown ones. Apparently they can see the forest more clearly than those of us who live in it!

Is Trump the worst president America has ever had?
No. That was FDR, for overthrowing our Constitution and creating the culture of progressivism that infects the nation to this day.

Mr. Trump was actually a pretty good president. He helped to uphold the Second Amendment. Hopefully he will be reelected in 2024.

As a white I've never understood white grievance and yet it palpable in conversations with Trump supporters. A sense in which somehow they are forgotten and neglected.
It's not so much a grievance as it is we don't like having our civil liberties violated, and we also don't like the idea of getting raped and murdered.

Since that's all that progressivism offers to us, we vote for the other choice.

----------------------------------------------------
He claims the violence is in Democratic Cities.
What he's not mentioning is that they are in America and he is the President of the United States of America.
He ordered the National Guard to step in and restore order.

Unfortunately progressive traitors in the government subverted the order.

----------------------------------------------------
I am an American. For the most part, I've always been very proud of that fact and of our country. That is why I want a national leader who represents me and that pride. President Obama restored that feeling when he took off. Once again, America was admired throughout most of the world, and feared where we needed to be feared.
Now? We've fallen even below the dismal W years when we were despised for our unwarranted invasion of Iraq. We are a laughingstock. Even worse, we are pitied for our horrendous virus death toll and for the corrupt and impotent leadership at the top.
America needs to smash up one of the little countries every few years just to remind the rest of the world what we will do to them if they cross us.

I'm interested midcan5, what in your opinion--or if you want to use links, etc.--were the five worst things Trump did as president? Could you make a list of those specific things for us?

There is so much it is hard to list. Recently dancing after repeating murdered children names. Unreal. See list below.

'Feel the love, feel the hate – my week in the cauldron of Trump's wild rallies'

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/nov/01/trump-rallies-america-midterms-white-house

'There is no understanding Donald Trump without understanding his rallies.' "They are the crucible of the Trump revolution, the laboratory where he turns his alternative reality into a potion to be sold to his followers. It is at his rallies that his radical reimagining of the US constitution takes shape: not 'We the people', but 'We my people'."

I read through those lists. Most of the stuff on there was so marginal and minor as to be laughable. Trump insulted someone? So fucking what? Every politician does crap like that, some more than others. Yes, I get it. Trump is a world-class asshole and troll. He's an arrogant braggard and blowhard. That doesn't make him some evil baby eating mass murderer though.

In my opinion, that is far, too subjective of a question to accurately answer.

Ask ten Americans at random what makes a bad POTUS?
And I bet you will get at least 6 or 7 different answers.
It's like judging what is good or bad art...it's too subjective to decide statistically or scientifically.

Also, there are TONS of things that happened long ago - that we do not know about.
And may never, know about.
Things that various POTUS's did or did not do.
That if we knew about them - might drastically change are opinions.
Without complete information - one cannot make a complete judgement.

Additionally, POTUS's are scrutinized, INCREDIBLY more so than they used to be.
The internet has made every, single thing ANY POTUS does?
Put under microscopic scrutiny.
Whereas it is common knowledge that the press simply stayed away from many things POTUS's said and did...long ago.

Finally, I think voters blame politicians too much.
And do not blame themselves NEARLY enough.
The voters put these people in office.
The voters MUST take much of the responsibility for what these people do/did.

Judging 'who is the worst POTUS' since 1789?
Imo, it cannot be done accurately.

It can be done, but if you want it to be halfway quantified and statistical, you need to ignore historian's methods for doing so.

What you do is a repeated heap sort algorithm.

You can select a broad range of categories of performance like economy, war, social, political, etc., and rate them initially on a binary scale of worse or better (0 or 1).

You then refine this several times rerunning the algorithm.

It will return a reasonable stacked rating of presidents.

No, I'm not going to do it because I have other projects in the pipeline and don't have the time. Historians almost entirely won't do it because they aren't trained or skilled to think this way (I'm a rare crossover being an engineer and historian and focused mostly on technical topics related to war).
