It certainly is outrageous. Step children are covered. Why weren't the children of same sex partners already covered?

You see, it's things like this that are hidden or forgotten when discussing same sex marriage. "Let's just call it a civil union", some folks say. "It's the same thing. We don't have to call it marriage." Then we run into things like this. Unless it's called the exact same thing, marriage, there will be things the average person may not consider. Things like, say, step children. Who would have thought?

It sure seems like this site has attracted extremists from both the right and the left over the years.

Its not worth even trying to talk to some of the newer posters anymore.....narrow minds, fools, and just just plain unreasonableness seems to rule the day.....

The left refuses to acknowledge any limits to the reality of what we can do and the right refuses to acknowledge any compassion for the those that must be cared for....

Can we ever realize we have limits or all sink into the abyss trying to do what is obviously impossible.....

The left you're describing only seems extreme when compared to the off-the-rails nutjobs who've hijacked the right. There will be no negotiating, legitimizing or accepting and/or tolerating of gay hate, racism, draconian measures to thwart reproductive rights, or the demonization of undocumented Hispanic immigrants. I'm sure that seems unreasonable to some. Tough shit.
 
It's impossible to even consider any issue with anyone whose very leaders constantly espouse their governance philosophy as NO, NO, HELL NO. We'll be hearing more about that as these campaigns go forward.

Whether you care or don't care only matters to you and to God. But between now and when you meet him to explain, we'll take your tax dollars, and my tax dollars, and pay for this plan.

And this most excellent society can gladly have mine as well, WinterBorn. I appreciate the very vast majority of how my tax dollars are spent. This is not to say I am completely satisfied but there are millions of things for which I have no real depth of understanding or experience in governmental spending and budgets.

I agree with you, 100%. And Libs have the freedom to tell people like you how to behave in society whether you care or not. You're absolutely free not to care but you'll still have to dig in that pocket and buy medical insurance regardless of how much you don't care. Or pay a fine or a tax or whatever you want to call it but you will contribute.

It is clear you don't understand the concept of freedom. What you libs espouse is immoral.

Here is a thought experiment for you. If you go into a bank and rob it but give all of the money to the poor, is it still considered stealing?

The answer is 100% yes.

Just because you use the force and power of the government doesn't legitimize theft. If you take something against someones will that is stealing plain and simple.

We don't pay taxes, they are confiscated

That's referred to as "stinkin' thinkin'." :)

Here's a thought experiment for you. Let's say a kid is 16 or 17 or so and gets a summr job. If the parents want to educate the child some parents will ask for a portion of their earnings for their room and board. Obviously not a large amount. The idea is to educate the "child" in the ways of the world. The parent may give the money back to the child and even contribute more if it's for education. Again, the point is to show the "child" there are bills to pay when one works.

Is that taking advantage of the "child" or teaching them about life?

I work hard, DAMN HARD! for what litle money i get, and i don't want to give it to no fags kids or lazy cadilac driving welfare mamas to steal from me.

20k a year may sounds like a lot to a lazy bongo playing hipy but i earned that money and no goverment agency has the right to penetrate MY right not to give a damn weather people starve.
