He was critical of fascism, the collusion of big business and government to increase both of their mutual control over society, to the detriment of individuals trying to form new competing corporations, or just trying to better their lives.

To the detriment of individuals trying to better their lives? The guy had a house and his own plane. Let's not make him out to be some hard-done-by dude. If he had put as much effort into earning an honest living as he did trying to cheat his fellow citizens by not paying his taxes he would have been a lot better off.

If you think government and large corporations should collude to stop individuals from controlling their own tax status and working preference, (1099 exists for a reason) then you just agree with fascism.

Controlling their own tax status? That's absurd. He was an employee just like the thousands of other engineers who are employees. He wanted deductions other people are not entitled to. He was a thief, plain and simple. And not a very good one at that.

He was an independant contractor.


The large corporations hate independant contractors, because they prove the superiority of the craftsman approach over taylorization and scientific managment (,dehumanization, overspecialization, deskilling, ignorant managment, etc).

He said he had problems getting a job unless through another company. Of course he did. Would you hire an independent engineer knowing if he screwed up he simply declares bankruptcy and moves on after having taken their money?

That's the whole problem with "little businesses". They come and go after they've taken your money and the worst part is the laws are tailored so they can declare bankruptcy without the ripped off customer touching their other holdings such as their home.

A guy opens a business. He collects money from customers. He pays for his mortgage and car and other things with that money. When one sues him the things he bought with that money can not be touched. He simply declares bankruptcy. What value is there to the things he actually uses for his business that can be sold to reimburse the customer he ripped off?

It's like the guy who installed windows in one of my buildings. In those days we paid him around $10,000.00. All he had for business assets, should one sue him, was a beat up pick-up and a hammer.

If a person is spending considerable money they want a reputable company to back up their work. That's why he wasn't getting jobs unless through other companies in which case he was an employee.

Did you read the link? The law is clear. If someone dictates what your job is or in other ways have control of what you do then you are considered an employee.

Consider for moment, say, a construction company with five employees. The owner will probably write off his truck and gas as expenses. Each employee does not do that. That's the type of thing the plane guy was trying to do. He was an employee and wanted to write off expenses like he was the owner.

Greedy. A thief.

No, it's paying for the things you use. Roads, bridges, schools, sidewalks, parks....the list goes on.

Maybe the government should give the greedy folks a choice. If you want to buy some groceries cut across your neighbor's lawns because you're not allowed on the roads or sidewalks. When you come to a river, swim. No bridge for you. :cof1:
