this shows what the gop base is really about

I believe life begins at conception so I oppose all forms of abortion

So you agree with the Republicans I cited who want to force rape victims to bear their attacker's child.

Now, do you want to pretend that Todd Akin doesn't speak for you?

Bump the shit out of this thread. Make the righties own up to their war on women.

There are countless instances of women faking being raped. You surely know that. Just like cases of queers faking hate crimes.

Bit as usual this the stupid GOP fighting on demalquedacrats turf. All they have to do us smoke out the demalquedacrats by ceding the rape argument. Let the demalquedacrats have the 0.5% of abortions that occur from rape and make it illegal for all others. Case closed. We win the argument. But they are too stupid to do it

Wow you are a teanager aren't you.

the clearest sign of partisan hackery is watching the other side continue to berate someone for some stupid idiotic comment, even after a 'clarification' is made, while studiously defending a 'clarification' from his own political side after some stupid idiotic comment.

i have not found any other doctor that supports the rape/pregnancy myth (http://news.yahoo.com/ohio-doctor-he...204010659.html) except Dr. John C. "Jack" Willke, so that is why i asked the question in the op

akin has not denounced willke's views, but still supports his views

so much for his 'clarification'

My guess is zero doctors. He admitted that he was wrong. I know the GOP doesn't back his idiot comment.

They don't?

Some social conservatives talk of protecting religious freedom, but what they are really seeking is a theocracy that places limits on freedom based on a version of Judeo-Christianity that fits their liking. That language is also being considered for the GOP's national platform.

Some speak of fighting abortion because of their religious convictions and then belittle the trauma caused by rape.

They think they can make this controversy all about Akin, as if Ryan's legislative history is just going to disappear.

Todd Akin’s remarks about some rapes being “legitimate,” and the ability of a woman to miraculously self-abort in those instances, have many of his fellow Republicans desperate to distinguish him from others in their party.

Akin is not an outlier.

Paul Ryan shares his views.

Ryan has sponsored legislation with him that also sought to distinguish between types of rape: Instead of “legitimate,” it used “forcible.”

On social issues, the difference between Ryan’s views and Akin’s could fit on a Post-it note.

The Republican base only cares about Akin because he might cost them votes.

A lot of them share his views.

They're desperate to sweep this issue under the rug.

Ryan has the same antiabortion position as Akin — no exceptions — and some of the nearly 40 abortion bills he has co-sponsored have provided no exemption for rape victims.

I wonder how many righties think a woman is "asking for it" when she's raped.

Most of them, if this forum is representative of righties at large. Why are people still giving money to this piece of sh*t?

"Bolstered by thousands of small individual donations, embattled Republican Congressman Todd Akin reaffirmed his commitment to his U.S. Senate campaign ..."

It will cost Aiken votes and may cost the GOP the Senate. But, it will not cost Romney anything. Now it does play into the OWEdummyfucker "war on women" meme, but that has been a farce from day one.

Here is a stat for you dipshit libs. There are more women GOP governors than there are democrat governors. Now stuff that in your pipes and smoke it

And there are way more Dem than Repub women in the Senate and the House. I don't smoke.

When he "clarifiedwhat he meant" did that change anything for you? What is there to debate?

There isn't anything. We all agree Akin is an idiot. That said, the constant attempts to paint an entire party or ideology by the words of one person is moronic.
