This will flush any recovery!

That's the plan.

yes plan...
for about 10 years or more now?

Currently the nuke waste is stored at each facility.
And virtually none of it in the secure containers you mentioned.
The nuke companies do not want to buy the expensive containers.
Guess who will wind up paying for it all?

The only thing holding up Yucca Mountain is environmental whackos. I guess thay'd rather see the shit piled up at each plant, under less stringent confinment.

What makes you say they don't want to buy the containers? Why would they spend the money for a transport container until its time to transport the waste?

duhh they would not have to transfer the waste from one container to another. If they really want to be safe they would store it in the most secure container.

and it is the not in my back yard syndrome. Why I think each state should develop it's own waste storage facillity.
But I guess the have the feds pay for the mess of private industry is the way of the right.
You want nuke power, you must live with the waste.
States rights :usflag:
And states responsibility for their actions.

also Can states restrict the transport of nuke wastes thru their state?
It is not coommerce since the waste has no value.

1. Safe is a relative term and since the existing containers haven't been a problem then why buy new ones?
2. I think waste should be in the best place regardless of political boundaries. Why do you care about boundaries more than the environment?
3. It's commerce regardless of value.

Maybe on the commerce but I think it is a valid argument.

Over 1,000 United States locations, including both operational and abandoned sites, are contaminated with radiation. These sites range in size from small corners in laboratories to massive nuclear weapons facilities. The contamination may be found in the air, water, and soil, as well as equipment and buildings. These sites are closely monitored to prevent unnecessary exposure of the public.

Again I want these places to be cleaned up and the shit stored in a state-of-the-art facility like Yucca. Why anyone would choose the "do nothing" alternative needs to be explained to me.

Each state needs to take responsibility , except for the nuke weapons sites. That is what Yucca mtn should be for.

also because of prevailing westerly winds should all nuke waste storage should be on the east coast.

Also I'd like to have the shit contained so winds don't disperse it. Why would you want otherwise?

I did not say I wanted it otherwise. However in the event of an accident it would not blow over the eastern half of the USA.
