Those who believe in heaven commit more crimes

The first row contains those who believe in heaven and hell.

its a shame the idiot who conducted the survey wasn't bright enough to differentiate the answers based upon the same table you did......thats the error we've been pointing out to you......unfortunately, you aren't bright enough to realize it yet....

this whole disaster has come about simply because, like the author of the survey, you were so anxious to prove something negative about people who believed in heaven you didn't take the time to see if what you posted actually proved anything at all.......a classic dumbfuck atheist fail.......

you can cram more undocumented bullshit into one post than anyone else here........can you substantiate even a single sentence of the above or is it just your inaccurate opinion......

I, unlike you, venture out into the world and talk to real people. You just do not want to accept the evidence and the turning tide. Orthodox Christianity is a dying breed.

Christianity is losing its followers, in response, tenets are changing and the concept of an eternal hell is one of those teachings that is hitting the dust bin.

the study didn't ask them if they believed in heaven and not hell.....the study asked them if they believed in heaven......the study asked them if they believed in hell.....the results of the fucking study do not distinguish between those who answered yes to both and those who didn't....

But it shows that several nations had a considerably higher number of people who believed in heaven than in hell. It found the reverse as well but in lower numbers.

Yeah.... you are WRONG. They asked several questions and the data shows the distinctions. Their analyses considered two questions not just whether they believed in hell or not and plotted both against crime. You have been proven wrong and now you are throwing a fit.

This is like a "OP" that was posted on the old AOL booards.

Someone found a study that showed the majority of incarcerated criminals were religious.
The poster tried to use this to show that people who were religious were more apt to commit a crime; all the while ignoring the presented fact that most prisoners "get religion", so that it looks better for the Parole Board.

The poster never allowed any facts or information to penetrate that pre-conceived agenda of his.

How many people do you run into up there?

I had no agenda and neither you nor anyone else has presented any facts to counter anything. I saw a news article of interest and posted it. The title is not even mine, it was on the article. Nothing wrong with it and it is an accurate description of the study.

I hadn't realized that it was The Dude who had posted that old "OP"; but it looks like my mentioning his disgrace, has caused him to groan. :D

If you had "agenda" then why did you try to argue so steadfastly that it was accurate; even when it was shown that what the article said, was 180 degrees from what you were trying to present?

The most important thing for Left Wingers to understand is that Right Wingers believe god's law should be the only law. Paul, in the bible, use to work for government and quit because people tried too hard to mix up right and wrong making it all undetermined ground.

Yet when he became a disciple of Christ he realized gods laws were more significant and punishing. He decided god's laws were the laws to follow.

The basis of the Right Wing Libertarianism or anti-government was based on the laws of the bible, because man is in no position to judge, "Do not judge or be judged"

Today Libertarians run free on an anti-American and anti-Chrisitan concept. Today's Libertarians driven by Fox News are basically today's roof of evil. The bible teaches you to share your riches if you are blessed but today's Libertarians say, "I built that. Don't punish me for my success."

people have been claiming it dying for 2000 years......

It was not shown that the study disagrees with the title. Quite the opposite. The study showed that belief in heaven and belief in hell had unique and opposing effect on crime.

As predicted, rates of belief in heaven and hell had significant, unique, and opposing effects on crime rates. Belief in hell predicted lower crime rates, B_hell = −1.941, p<.001; whereas belief in heaven predicted higher crime rates, B_heaven = 1.958, p<.001 (Note that these are standardized regression coefficients, so they may be interpreted as effect sizes). Controlling for the effect of belief in heaven, a 1 SD increase in belief in hell resulted in an almost 2 SD decrease in national crime rate; conversely, controlling for the effect of hell, a 1 SD increase in belief in heaven resulted in an almost 2 SD increase in national crime rate. Analyzing each crime individually revealed the same significant pattern of effects for 8 of the 10 individual crimes (kidnapping and human trafficking excepted; see Table 1).

Exactly! It took me years to figure that out. I would always be like, WTF? How can she/he do that and be all "religious". And then after years of reading a certain pious pos's posts, and then what she posted about religion and God, a light bulb went off. OH, they can just say "forgive me Jesus" and do it all again tomorrow! That is seriously how they interpret it!

Yes, they do. The buzzwords are "I'm not perfect, just forgiven." It excuses everything, doesn't it!

what do you expect when you can do whatever the fuck you want and then merely ask for forgiveness and have all your evil deeds washed away

I am a Christian and I do not think that is true at all, I am to abstain from sin as much as is Humanly possible, I am not perfect and therefore still a sinner, I do not view my forgiveness, and the ability to be forgiven when I ask, as a sin as much as i want clause, but rather grace. I would also say those who do not believe in Hell, are part of a cult, because of what 2nd Timothy 3:16 say's God's word is truth and from Him!

A follower of Jesus would not think that way, we are thankful for forgiveness when we make mistakes, but do not see it as a free to sin as much as I want card. At least that is not what our Church, and denomination teach.
