It was a good effort for the times, but it created the most inefficient form of government on the face of the earth, past and present, and it certainly didn't proportion representation fairly at all.
They thought of the new nation as almost a European Union type thing where the states maintained most of the power, and that was a particularly egregious error that's proven impossible to correct.
When we need to be a real nation, the incompatibility of our various factions makes it impossible.

I will always believe that partition is desirable, and I wish that we had let the Confederacy go its separate way in the 1860s.

The good places to go have tough immigration laws, especially when it comes to letting in Americans.

I'd be welcome in Italy, because I'm 100% ethnically Italian, but they just elected a fascist,
and I'm now too old to go anywhere.

On one of my trips to Norway we visited a viking museum in Bergen. They had found a piece of wood from what they assumed was a public "outhouse" from about the time of the Vikings (somewhere between 800AD and 1200AD but I can't remember exactly when) that read, in runes: "Ingeborg elsket meg van jeg var i Stavanger" (Ingeborg loved me when I was in Stavanger). I thought that was hilarious. Seems men never change.

I don't hate this country, Moron and both myself and my Children are welcome in Norway as well as the Netherlands and England since my father was Norwegian and my Mother had dual citizenship.

By the way, Poland would be good too.

Because they are quite noticeably more civilized then we.
They have a better social safety net.
They value education.
They have strong unions where labor is well protected.
They still have some manufacturing capability.
They have both great tolerance and yet high standards of personal comportment at the same time.
They're not overly religious.
Right now, I'd say that the region is the best place to live in the world.
